The Twilight stars answer more of the fans burning questions! This time around Rob answers “ “Robert, do you like the fans’ nickname for you, RPattz?” He answers:
Rpattz. I guess it kind of makes sense. It’s my initial, and a bit of my name. I don’t know. At least it’s not an insult. It sounds kind of like antacid or something. … I hate my name. I hate any reference to my name. I wish people would completely invent a new one like … Spunk. There’s a girl that’s called Ransom. I’d like to be called “Ransom Spunk,” or “Spunk Ransom.”
MTV Movies Blog also announced that Rob, Kristin Stewart, and Cam Gigandet will be attending the MTV Movie Awards. The biggest news of all? They will be featuring full scene from Twilight! Read all about it here. The MTV Movie Awards is scheduled to be on Sunday, June 1st, 2008.
If you’ve signed up for the official How To Be mailing list you were probably emailed a ton of new information regarding the film.
There is an article featured in British Film Magazine called How To Be/Watch and Learn. The article speaks about not only what the movie is about, but also touches on its production/filming process. Here is an excerpt:
Which is harder? Making a film about growing up? Or growing up? Or are they, in fact, the same thing?
**************
The new British, coming-of-age pic How To Be by director Oliver Irving is a case in point.
This features Art, Harry Potter’s Robert Pattinson , as a frustrated musician and rejected lover who does the only sensible thing when faced with adversity in contemporary society: he moves back in with his middle class parents.
In addition to this, Quiet Earth wrote a a review for the movie which also includes some new pictures. Article snippet and pictures are below:
Things don’t get better for Art. His girlfriend Jessica (Alisa Arnah) dumps him and he’s forced to move back in with his unwelcoming parents. Rebecca Pidgeon (an actress who’s popular with Mamet) and Michael Irving give great performances as Art’s icy folks. It seems all he can do is disappoint them, and everyone else. Including the home for the mentally retarded where he attempts to hold down a job. The scariest character is the Dad – Father to Son: “Your existence is an oxymoron.” Dude. One day, Art reads a Self Help book by a Dr. Ellington (Powell Jones) and is inspired. In a brilliant twist, Art spends his inheritance money to bring the dapper old gent over from Canada and be his personal counselor.
…Robert Pattinson’s performance is strong, and yes it’s true, he did play Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). His next flick, currently in production, is called “Twilight” and involves Vampires. Definitely a bloke to keep your eye on. “How to Be” is not currently available on DVD, but I hear they’re working hard on it.
Thanks to LiveJournal user _lila for finding new info on Little Ashes! It seems that a movie poster has been released, it is however of very low quality. You can see it below:
This comes from web site called Katapult Film Sales which includes a page for Little Asheshere. Their page includes information on the films runtime, which appears to be 97 minutes long, and also a detailed description.
According to MTV Movies Blog, the producers of Twilight have discussed filming the entire series at the same time.
“It’s been discussed,” producer Greg Mooradian revealed to MTV News. “I can’t tell you we’re at that place yet, but it’s definitely been discussed.”
The advantages to such a plan are obvious: Rather than building sets and tearing them down only to be re-built a few years later, they can film multiple scenes; instead of selling vehicles and re-buying them, they can hold on to them; rather than having thirty-year-old actors pretending to still be in high school, they can stay the same age in each film.
“Our vampires can’t age…if they were like 45, people would say ‘What’s up?’” laughed director Catherine Hardwicke, citing one of the main problems with filming Stephenie Meyer’s “New Moon” and “Eclipse” novels. “[Filming them together] could be the case. Then, you just get it done.” [read more]
MTV is also asking for your video responses to every piece of Twilight news that they post – you can get more info here. :)
First and foremost I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone for submitting their birthday wishes! We have taken down the submission form as today is the deadline. We received an astounding 444 messages from the fans! That is utterly brilliant. You have made this our largest birthday compilation for Rob since 2005. All of your messages will be appearing on the birthday page by May 13th. Thank you again!
I’ve also made a pretty large gallery update today. =) I have uploaded approximately 515 images that range from MTV segments to the new How To Be interviews. Since it would take up a great deal of space if I were to post up thumbnails, I will simply just link you to all of the Twilight related galleries.
Many thanks to Marlene for pointing us to makingofeuropa.net which gives us a behind-the-scenes look into How To Be. The page on How To Be features a variety of clips from the director, producer, and some of the cast. Although Robert wasn’t interviewed, he is featured in pretty much all of the videos. They are all really fantastic, giving us more insight about what the movie truly is about and how it all came together. I’ve linked to all of the clips and featured an excerpt from each of them:
Oliver Irving (director & writer): I was drawing together lots of anecdotes. And that’s one of the reasons Robert Pattinson as Art works so well because he hadn’t been to drama school per se. He came at it through trying to understand what its about and playing a version of himself.
Justin Kelly (producer): How To Be is a bit different in the sense that in some ways it’s about the middle class; a real, original kind of take on life and its quirks
Joe Hastings (composer, co-writer): The lead characters’ tracks were written between me and Oliver and the lyrics were written between me and Oliver and we always envisaged that music surrounding it would reflect in some way the music of the lead character, but just in a preposterous or incidental way so it fits with scenes and ties in well.
Rebecca Pidgeon (actress): I spoke to Oliver about it and I asked how he wanted it to sound. He wanted it to sound American. So she is an American woman with a British son, she brought him up in England. I think she very repressed and businesslike and I think she’s quite horrified
Johnny White (actor): Working with Robert is a dream come true. Ever since I saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. No, it’s great, he’s very good.
Backstage: Includes footage of the filmmaking process.
If you were like me and breathlessly watched the countdown on the Official Twilight Movie site, waiting for a new, extended trailer to appear… now you’re sitting there wondering what the heck happened. According to the Twilight Lexicon:
Verified through Summit to clear up confusion once again regarding the trailers for the movie. The ONLY trailer that Summit has produced as of this moment is the trailer that you can see on Myspace. This trailer was given to MySpace as an exclusive and is therefore not seen elsewhere until Friday. On Friday the SAME teaser trailer that you have already seen will be placed on the official Twilight movie site as well as other sites all over the web. This also includes movie theaters!
Right now the low-quality version is only available. Maybe since tomorrow is “Twilight Tuesday” we will be able to get the HQ image…we just have to wait and see! In the mean time enjoy this stunning looking picture.
Also, the official Twilight movie site has placed up a countdown until the the official teaser trailer is released on the site!
Our forum is back up! So you can go ahead and register again. We are still in the tweaking stages so you just have to bear with us through this process.
We are looking to hire a new site tech as soon as possible. Your duties will include helping out with any technical aspect of the site that the present site staff will not be able to deal with. This includes installing plugins, fixing code, being able to diagnose and fix site problems, basically anything to do with keeping the site in good technical working order. You must be able to devote the time needed, be at least 16 years of age, have copious amounts of knowledge with html and css, know and have dealt with mysql databases, and know how a basic site like ours is hosted. Serious applicants only. We do not have time to deal with someone who does not know what they are doing.
Please send an email to admin.po.net@gmail.com telling us about your experiences and how you will be able to fulfil the role of site tech.
Let me just say that Rob really does just take your breath away. It’s almost too much how good looking he is and he just has a presence about him. And Kristen is beautiful. They were both so kind. They really ARE Edward and Bella.
We [Rob & Calicat] talked a little, with 3 other tweens that had showed up later. He wasn’t his normal shy self, maybe because there wasn’t a huge crowd jabbing pens down his throat… ;) I asked him to do the famous Edward Cullen pinching bridge of the nose move….he was like, “huh?” I was like, Hello!!! It’s THE signature move!!! And he was like…well, I have my own signature moves! And he demonstrated a few…and let me tell you….
Wowza.
Thanks ladies!
Catherine Hardwicke has once again updated the blog at Greetings from Twilight. She speaks of the filming being officially wrapped up, their encouncters with the forces of nature, and what she will be doing next to get the film ready for December 12th!
