tMF 50 Hottest Young ActorsComments Off

Posted by Joy // Categories: Press //

tMF has posted their list of the Top 50 Hottest Young Actors, and Rob ranks in at #1! (He was #19 last time.)

Best acting performance: In Oliver Irving’s How To Be, the main character Art comes to life courtesy of Robert Pattinson. It’s funny how some actors can surprise you with their interpretation of certain characters, especially if you’re a fan and has already made up your own perception of the actor. It’s hard to be funny and tragic all at the same time, with almost the same degree of intensity. In this movie, Pattinson did all that. Here’s an excerpt of our latest interview with the filmmaker:

I love the scene with Rob speaking to himself in the mirror near the end. Rob kind of feeds off his surroundings. When the set has the right mood he works with it very well. Here the room felt completely right (we barely dressed it – it was a real room behind the stage) and he just captured that little moment of stillness in a way which I think is really touching – and kind of strange and funny too. The shot at the car boot sale was similar. Rob channeled the grimness of the location and the weather into his performance and really got across how low and lost the character is at that point, just with his body language and expression.

Why he made the top50: tMF prides itself with discovering and putting the spotlight on young actors that are ‘under the radar’. We have long discovered Ben Whishaw, Gaspard Ulliel and James McAvoy even before they went on to become fixtures on many of the net’s biggest movie news sites. In the case of Robert Pattinson, we are not only sending a big message that we’re putting the spotlight on Rob, but we’re telling his fans- it’s now high time to celebrate!

Watch out for Rob in the upcoming Twilight as he plays the vampire Edward Cullen. But come hell or higher water, be sure to put in your calendar a date when you’ll watch him as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes!

ropeofsilicon.com was quick to answer to the backlash from Rob fans, upset that he wasn’t included in the list for ”Next Big Male Movie star”.

It came back with this funny take on it:

“When I posted my article earlier today asking “Who’s the Next Big Male Movie Star?” there was an outcry by Robert Pattison (a.k.a. Edward Cullen) fans proclaiming he was certainly the next big thing.”

“Their outcry came as a shock, considering I did add him to the list, but I felt it was impossible to judge Pattinson against mere mortals. The problem here is that I don’t consider Pattinson an actor… I consider him a GOD! I mean, would someone rate God?”

“To show my obedience to Pattinson and his loyal fans I give you the official “Robert Pattinson is God” wallpaper.”

To see it, go to www.ropeofsilicon.com

And by the way, I still don’t see him on the list.. so keep those suggestions coming!

If you want to suggest they do, go to www.ropeofsilicon.com and add a comment, so they know he has a huge following and fans that stand by his amazing talent.

Robert in “Celebuzz”Comments Off

Posted by Isabel // Categories: Press //

Celebuzz has recently posted an article about How to live like… Robert Pattinson, in which they talk about his sudden popularity:

Robert Pattinson, steamy British heartthrob and star of the upcoming romantic vampire flick Twilight, has girls crawling all over him before the film even hits theatres.
How does a former no-name Brit go from a somewhat struggling actor to one of Hollywood’s hottest?
While he did have a small role as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, as well as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoneix, Pattionson’s shoot to stardom still doesn’t quite add up.
Could it be that incredibly luscious pout he’s always sporting? Or what about that signature, smoldering stare? Whatever it is, Robert has accrued a massive female following since word broke that he would be playing Edward Cullen, Twilight‘s inhumanly sexy vampire. Again, the film hasn’t even been released yet!

‘Twilight’ in Capricho MagazineComments Off

Posted by Joy // Categories: Films,Images //

Twilight was featured in Capricho, a Brazilian magazine. Thanks to Pattinson Brasil we have scans and a translation of the bits about Rob.

The movie cast is headed by Robert Pattinson, who played a character in a Harry Potter movie, a good reason why the Twilight and Harry Potter fans dont fight with each other!

Twilight on the Big Screen
More than 5 thousand actors auditioned to play Edward Cullen, but who got the role was the British actor Robert Pattinson. For Bella, Kristen Stewart was the producers favorite since the beginning. As she was 17 when the shots began, she had to take private classes while shooting and worked just 5 hours per day.

Rob on Hottest 25 Under 25Comments Off

Posted by Joy // Categories: Press //

Rob was named one of Moviefone’s Hottest 25 Under 25.

What He’s Done: The Londoner was Hufflepuff Quidditch stud Cedric Diggory in two installments of ‘Harry Potter’ (‘Goblet of Fire’ and ‘Order of the Phoenix’).

What’s Next: Hopefully ‘Potter’ hysteria prepared him well for playing vampire dreamboat Edward Cullen in the next page-to-screen phenomenon, ‘Twilight.’

Industry Buzz: “His career could be extremely unique,” director Catherine Hardwicke (‘Twilight’) tells us. “He’s a powerful, sexy leading man and slips incredibly well into different periods and styles. I’d also love to see him work on Tim Burton-esque films where he has the opportunity to create completely wild, original characters that become classics.”

Thanks to Allison for the tip!

Rob Gives Harry Potter Some LoveComments Off

Posted by Tara // Categories: Press //

MTV asked Rob and other actors and actresses about their thoughts on Harry Potter. Here is what Rob had to say:

Does it make me a traitor? ‘Harry Potter’ was what made me become an actor. I credit ‘Harry Potter’ with everything else that’s come since for me. I didn’t know what I was doing before that. I hadn’t read the books before doing the movie, so at first I read it just as an acting exercise. But I really enjoyed it! But I think Edward would kick Cedric’s ass, to be honest.

Rob and the FandomComments Off

Posted by Joy // Categories: Films,Press //

Jed at tMF has written up a great article about the relationship of actors and fandom, and he has some great insights about Rob’s films.

Twilight will give him the chance to prove his box office draw but Little Ashes will prove his worth as an actor. Why is that? First of all, he’s taking a big risk here. He’s playing a very notorious and quite popular artist. Salvador is already a larger than life character who has been subjected to ridicule and has been celebrated for his work. While Rob is going to portray a younger Dali, before his days of notoriety, he still needs to be convincing in more ways than one.

Rob in Interview MagazineComments Off

Posted by Joy // Categories: Images,Press //

Interview Magazine has a new article and a gorgeous new picture of Rob!

A former child model – he posed professionally from ages 12 to 15 (”when I stopped looking like a girl”) – Pattinson has been dubbed “the next Jude Law” in the British press. “I don’t really see the similarity,” he says. One opportunity to break out comes via next year’s Little Ashes, a Spanish drama in which Pattinson stars as the young Salvador Dali. But first, there’s the vampire thriller Twilight, based on the popular teen books, in which Pattinson plays Edward, a 108-year-old bloodsucker in love with a high school girl. Horror fans are already stalking him. “It’s funny,” Pattinson says, “because teenage girls would say,’ Oh my God, you’re Cedric!’ It switched in a week to ‘Oh, my God, it’s Edward!’ Allegiances change to freely in the teen-girl world.”
