Robert Pattinson talked to METRO (UK) about is latest film, “Remember Me,” and has revealed that he is extremely picky about the roles that he takes. You can read the full interview below.
The 23-year-old actor has become a global superstar after playing brooding vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight, but his latest film is indie flick Remember Me, which he revealed stood out from the hundreds of roles he has been offered.
Robert said: “I never like anything, so it’s quite easy to decide what to do – I’ve never felt any pressure to do anything, particularly. Even when we were shooting it [Remember Me] I never thought about the box office.”
He added: “I had read tonnes and tonnes of scripts over the summer after I did Twilight, I mean hundreds, and everything seemed exactly the same.
“But this one, the way the dialogue was written, it just seemed much more naturalistic than most things.
“It’s not really a feel-good movie. They don’t make movies like it anymore, I think that’s how I kind of choose stuff, that’s the only criteria I have. There seems to be a gap in the market for something and I just try and do that.”
Robert hopes his Twilight fans like the new film but revealed he would never appear in a film simply to please an audience.
He said: “Obviously you hope people like things but I think if you start doing stuff to please a certain audience then you’re going in the wrong direction. I mean, you don’t even know the people you’re trying to please, especially if you’re trying to please whole swathes of people.
Jessica David from Glamour.com has written an article about the press conference Rob was apart of. The main focus of this conversation was Rob’s new idie drama and romantic film, Remember Me. Below is the excerpts from the press conference.
What did you like about this project?
I’d read tons and tons of scripts over the summer after I did Twilight, I mean, hundreds, and everything seemed to be exactly the same, but with this one – it was Tyler as a character. It seems that most movies which have a young male protagonist as the lead have to be either a virgin to begin with and have to learn everything during the movie, or they go through the trials of the movie and end up completely different person afterwards, but Tyler seems to start off with a lot of baggage and as a very full and developed character, and ends up just being developed in this slightly different way rather than just becoming.
You’re very sweet with the young girl who plays your sister in the film – tell us about that relationship?
I don’t have any younger brothers or sisters – I’ve got two older – and I think I always wanted a younger sibling, not that I have anything against my sisters! But Ruby’s just one of the best actresses I’ve ever worked with. She’s surprisingly articulate about her character. When I first met her she seemed like a very normal kid and then the more she talked about her character and her character’s development, I mean she could talk about it for hours and she could also improvise for hours and hours and hours. She was really amazing.

UK fans, don’t forget to set your Sky+ tomorrow because Robert Pattinson will be chatting to Ben Shephard from GMTV about his latest film Remember Me and his interest in romantic comedy movies.
Chatting to Ben Shephard in an interview to be aired on Monday 29 March, Robert said he’s keen to put away his Twilight teeth for something more light-hearted, but admitted he has never read a good romcom script.
Asked if he’d like to take a break from the world of drama and try a romcom, Robert said: “I’d love to, but they are always just so rubbish. I mean like, I’d absolutely love to do it. but I’ve literally never read a good romcom script.”
He continued: “I think it’s such a typical career choice for me, as well, to be honest. Like, if you do a big franchise thing – especially for English guys – you try and do a Hugh Grant part or something. Which I don’t think would be the best idea for me…mainly because it’s quite difficult to be Hugh Grant!’
The 23-year-old actor also expressed admiration for his “Remember Me” co-star Pierce Brosnan – who pretended to be his dad when they first met!
Describing the Bond star’s unique tip on dealing on being recognised in public, Robert said: “He does this great little thing where if there are people looking over in a restaurant, he’ll go and introduce himself to them.
“When he first did I, I was like, ‘What are you doing? You’re completely insane’. He also said I was his son in reality as well – which was the first time I met him!”

Rob Pattinson is a world wide heartthrob, and any female that gets to work with him is envied! In Rob’s latest silver screen endeavor, Remember Me, Emilie De Ravin is the lucky girl who shares intense scenes with our favorite! De Ravin was interviewed by The Independent and had quite a few interesting things to say about her co-star.
About their first meeting and their on screen chemistry…
the young stars’ on-screen chemistry is undeniable. Viewers will be surprised to learn they met just one week before filming commenced.
“She’s really cool,” says Pattinson, pushing back his James Dean
-esque mane, when we meet later that afternoon. “She was actually the last girl we saw and she was cast on the day of her audition, so we went straight out to a bar. It was so close to filming that we didn’t have time to rehearse. But she got it right from the beginning, so it was easy.”
De Ravin agrees that the best preparation was getting to know each other. “Our relationship in the film is intense,” she nods. “We spent a lot of time together, talking about our characters and their relationship, because it’s so important to be comfortable together. Then, when we were actually shooting, everything fell into place and felt natural. It didn’t ever feel like we were reading a scene or going through the motions.”
On Rob’s hair…
So, when she was filming scenes with RPattz, who spent the most time on their hair?
She explodes with laughter: “Oh come on! Totally Rob,” she grins, before shaking her head at the ridiculousness of the question and, more seriously, adding, “Neither one of us really did much. It was just like… ” she mimes messing up her hair with devil-may-care nonchalance.
