Rob is gracing the cover of this months Italian Vanity Fair. The Examiner has provided some of translated highlights of the article, which is a compilation of older interviews.
Robert Pattinson: “I’m Single”
Despite the rumored romance with ‘Twilight’ co star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson is still claiming to be single.
The 23 year old ‘New Moon’ hunk says in a new interview with Italian Vanity Fair magazine that just about everything written about his personal life isn’t true.
“I am single… almost everything that came out about my private life is false.”
So why the false rumors then? Robert Pattinson thinks it could be because there is simply isn’t anything else to talk about.
“I think it happens because, really, there is not much to say about what I’m doing,” Pattinson said. “While I am filming, I live practically [like a] recluse in [a] hotel. I come out only to work, and sometimes to go out for dinner. But, if you read the magazines, it seems that I have a frantic high life.”
The hot young Brit can been seen in the second installment of the ‘Twilight Saga, New Moon’ in theaters now, and also is ‘Remember Me’ which hits theaters in March 2010.

In a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly, Mandi Bierly interviewed New Moon and Eclipse costume designer, Tish Monaghan. Rob’s ideas of costume for the new movies was different than the costume for Twilight, in fact, he was quite opinionated about what Edward would be wearing. Below are the Edward/Rob highlights of the interview.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Anyone who’s listened to the Twilight DVD commentary knows that Robert Pattinson wasn’t a fan of Edward’s pea coat.
TISH MONAGHAN: He wasn’t a fan of the pea coat. He wore it in virtually every scene, and I think maybe he just got tired of it. I’m guessing. [Laughs] He just wanted a more mature look. That was part of Edward’s Grade 11 year, and now he’s getting into his graduation year, he’s in a relationship. He had worn hoodies and jeans and sneakers, and Robert, the director [Chris Weitz], and I all wanted to portray him more as a gentleman, more elegant and classic. With our vampire characters, I always went back to the time period in which they were turned to see if there’s any element I could try to simulate in contemporary clothing. He came out of the Edwardian period, around 1910. Of course, most of the gentleman from that time would be wearing suits, coats, hats, etc. We had to pick something that was iconic for the character that would suffice to be used throughout the whole film. At the very beginning of the film, he has one school outfit, and then there’s Bella’s birthday party and disaster strikes. So Edward ends up in that same costume for the remainder of the film. I was thinking of just putting him in a dress shirt and a pair of pants, but Robert wanted to be in a suit.
So I found a modern contemporary look that would be appealing to him and to the massive fan base, a very slim cut, and a fabric that to me was a bit Old World — this beautiful tweed fabric that we got out of England. It had the gray base, which is kind of essential for the Cullen characters in their cool tones, but also had little interesting flecks of blue, which is also Cullen, and a tiny little bit of rust, which I liked because Bella wears earth tones and that kinda linked her into the picture. The general texture of the suit would hold up well no matter what setting he was in: Inside the house for the party, or in the forest, or in the Volturi chamber. We had to show wear on the suit, and it’s much easier to rough up something that has texture to it than just a flat piece of wool. His pants are worn at the knees, they’re rumpled.
Larry Carroll from MTV is continuing his interview with Rob with part two. Last week we learned about Rob and his views of romance on and off the silver screen, and this week the topics include Taylor Lautner’s transformation, 90 year old fans, and his favorite on-screen vampire.
MTV: Taylor Lautner’s transformation between the movies is now the stuff of legend. Tell us about the first time you saw him and what you thought.
Robert Pattinson: I didn’t see Taylor until just a little bit before we started shooting ["New Moon"]. When he came back, I had the same reaction as everybody else. I was like, “Jeez, now I have to go to the gym!” But yeah, it was strange. This one was weird, because I hardly did any scenes with Taylor. We did the scenes at the beginning and scenes at the end [together], and he had his entire story line develop without me being around, which is interesting, because I had no idea where his performance was going. So it wasn’t really a competition or anything; it was all independent. Whereas in “Eclipse,” we’re doing scenes together all the time with Bella.

Rob was recently interviewed by Anita Singh from Telegraph.co.uk about an interesting topic, one that he has not talked about. I found this interview to be enticing for different reasons. Rob/Edward has been portrayed as a sex symbol, he is constantly asked by fans to be ‘bitten’, and it seems that a deeper moral of the book/movie has been forgotten. Abstinence is a theme which is huge throughout this series, yet, it is done in a way that it seems to be overshadowed by the sexiness of the actors and the vampire illusion.
Going back to the roots of the book, author Stephenie Meyer is a practicing mormon who does not believe in sex before marriage. This remains throughout the entire series. Pattinson discusses this very topic, and how the abstinence is actually being taught even through the sexiness of the film.
Pattinson, the 23-year-old British actor who plays vampire Edward Cullen, said the chaste relationship between the two lead characters is the secret of Twilight’s appeal. He and Kristen Stewart, who plays schoolgirl heroine Bella Swan, share no more than a kiss in the first three books.
“The success of the Twilight books comes from the fact that fans can lust after Edward and yet, certainly in the first book, there’s no actual sexual contact between him and the series heroine. Twilight is a big metaphor for sexual abstinence, and yet it’s erotic underneath. There are so many elements in the story which are sexy,” Pattinson told The Daily Telegraph.
Isn’t our own imagination better anyway? Isn’t this the message we want our little girls to receive? Rob, yet again, hits on very deep theme of the series he has helped make a success. To view the entire article visit The Daily Telegraph here.
WISN-TV in Milwaukee, WI, which is an ABC affiliate, has posted a new interview with Rob about New Moon. Rob sits down and discusses with his interviewer about the movie’s theme: what people do for love, and the sometimes negativity, confusion and heartbreak that inevitably occurs for Edward and Bella. USA Today posted an article by Scott Bowles declaring New Moon the third highest film debut grossing approximately $140.7 million dollars during opening weekend.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon notched the third-largest debut on record this weekend with $140.7 million, according to studio estimates from Nielsen EDI.
The latest chapter of the vampire saga, which has made pinup stars of actors Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, is behind only The Dark Knight’s $158.4 million last year and Spider-Man 3’s $151.1 million in 2007.
From its opening midnight Thursday, Moon was headed for the record books. The film did $26.3 million in midnight screenings, shattering the record of $18.5 million held by Dark Knight.
By midnight Friday, New Moon had broken the single-day record with $72.7 million, again eclipsing Dark Knight’s $67.2 million. It earned an additional $118.1 million overseas.
The final numbers will be reported Monday, November 23rd, but so far New Moon, Rob, and the cast of the film are a success once again! View the entire article here.

Robert Pattinson – The most desired vampire in the world.
Has the character changed for you? And how so?
I’m very surprised at how relaxed I am with everything. I was very nervous before, especially with all the expectations. But since Twilight did well, I think I’m less nervous now.
What can you tell us about Edward in this sequel?
He feels like he’s lost everything since James, Victoria and Laurent appeared in his life. For him, everything spiraled out of control for him, and he’s struggling to stay afloat by pretending that everything is fine. So that’s why everything happens faster this time; he’s been considering it for a while.
And he thinks he’s doomed anyway, right?
Yes, actually from the first movie he feels that way. And in this movie he thinks he’s doing the right thing, even if later he realizes he made a mistake.
Edward is a little mean in this movie, isn’t he?
I don’t think he’s mean in this one. I think he’s mean in the next movie (laughs). He’s just lost and he takes the typical male attitude of finding a person he loves and throwing away everything because of his self-doubts. And then he realizes, after he messed up, that you only have few chances. And that’s the good thing about Bella.
She keeps giving him those chances.
Yes, but for her is not even about giving him another chance. She just knows more about the relationship than him, and he just blames himself for everything.
Have you ever been that way?
I’m always that way! In every relationship I’ve been this way, it’s ridiculous.
Do you dump them?
No, they actually dump me (laughs).
