New Moon Breaks Box Office Records

New Moon has done exceptionally well in its first 24 hours! According to Fandango:

Ticket sales show no signs of tapering off this weekend, as the movie is trending to sell more than 10 tickets per second throughout the course of the day on Fandango.

Summit Entertainment has reported that “New Moon” set a new record for opening midnight shows with an estimated gross of $26.270 million playing at 3,514 theaters for a per theater average of $7,476.

Several thousand of last night’s midnight shows were sold out in advance on our site. Fandango sold nearly 30% of Thursday night’s estimated domestic box office for “New Moon.”

With the countdown on until The Twilight Saga: New Moon hits our cinemas on November 20, we are aware that rumours have been rife regarding a dedicated fan event and that giveaways have been launched in order to win tickets. Rob has been honored by AskMen.com as a part of their Top 49 Most Influential Men list.

Every year, we put together a prestigious ranking called the Top 49 Most Influential Men, and one of the honorees this year is Robert Pattinson. We are very excited to share this news with you and, hope that you can do the same among all his supporters and Twilight fans. This year there were over 500,000 votes cast, making it a big honor to be included on the Top 49.

The success of a little movie called Twilight turned Robert Pattinson into the British vampire equivalent of a young Brad Pitt. He’s impossible to avoid. In 2009, he crashed the Academy Awards to present the Oscar for Best Romantic Feature, and then showed up at the MTV Movie Awards to accept three awards: Breakthrough Performance Male, Best Fight and Best Kiss, which he shared with his costar Kristen Stewart.

The Twilight mania followed Robert Pattinson to Vancouver, B.C., for the filming of the second installment in the saga, New Moon. When he wasn’t sharing screen time with his hot costars Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene and Bryce Dallas Howard, he was using bodyguards to protect him from the advances of adoring women, some of whom had traveled to the city in hopes of meeting him. It wasn’t any easier for Robert Pattinson in New York, during the filming of 2010’s Remember Me. He couldn’t avoid the eyes of AskMen.com editors when we spotted him at the posh NYC clubs, and he nearly got smacked by a taxi cab when a mob of screaming fans gave chase. It’s not easy being Hollywood’s latest hunky vampire.

Rob In GQ Style, Cinemania, Sci Fi Magazine

Thanks to DJ, we have scans of GQ Style’s feature on Rob: “Robert Pattinson: Is He the Brando of His Generation?”

Cinemania Spain recently did a feature on Little Ashes, which included a huge poster for the film in Spanish. (Source)

Last, but not least, Rob graced the cover of SciFi Magazine this month! (Source)

With Weitz watching intently, Lautner moves behind Bella and gently fastens a magical-looking necklace around her neck just as Robert Pattinson, covered in vampire makeup and sporting yellow contact lenses, appears in Bella’s view, much to the delight of scores of onlookers who gather around the outskirts of the filming location for a peek. Stewart then moves over to Pattinson and stands on a riser to kiss her co-star while everyone else watches and wonders if this is really Bella kissing Edward or if this is just Bella’s dream. Rome Film Festival Update

At the press conference yesterday for the Rome International Film Festival, more details were announced for the Italian premiere of New Moon, confirming some rumours that were revealed earlier this week.

The great story of love between Bella and Edward, based on the book, Twilight, by Stephanie Mayer [sic], returns the protagonists to the Festival. Based on the success from last year, they will present in a premiere, a few sequences of the heavily anticipated second sequel, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, directed by Chris Weitz. The images will be accompanied by readings from the book.

The premiere will be held at 4:30pm on October 22 and will include a red carpet arrival for some of the cast members. We currently have no information as to Rob’s appearance at the festival, but we will certainly keep you informed as details come in.

Rob Featured in Los 40 Principales

Spanish magazine Los 40 Principales visited the set of New Moon and has recently published their article on Rob.

We spoke with Robert Pattinson from the set of New Moon, and he reveals that he was in Spain for two months.

We caught Robert Pattinson in Vancouver, Canada, where he is filming the second part of the Twilight saga, which is called New Moon and opens in the 2009 Christmas season. He tells us by phone that he is having a calm shoot after the months of hysteria that followed the release of Twilight.

Such was the insanity that even the people closest to him changed their behavior, including his family. “I’ve noticed that the way my friends and even my family view me has changed. It’s very strange… but I think there will come a moment when things get back to normal.” What few people know is that Pattinson (London, 1986) went completely unnoticed (Twilight hadn’t opened yet) in Barcelona filming Little Ashes, in which he portrayed Salvador Dali and which opened May 8. “Well, not completely unnoticed,” he says. “It’s funny because there were people who recognized me from Harry Potter.” He spent two months in Barcelona, Sant Pere de Ribes, Caldes de Montbui, Granada, and Cadaques. As if he could do that now. What insanity.

Michael Sheen Praises Rob

Michael Sheen, who plays Aro in New Moon, recently commented on Rob’s behavior in regards to the media spotlight that constantly shines on him.

“I don’t know how he copes with it all. I certainly wouldn’t have been able to deal with it when I was his age… He and Kristen are really amazing. They’re fully committed to what they’re doing and I wish them the best.”
