Episode 013 "The Real Flans"
Isabel: Hello and welcome to the PattyCast, I’m Isabel.
Joy: And I’m Joy.
Tara: And I’m Tara.
Janna: And I’m Janna.
Isabel: Wow, all of us together at the same time for the first time ever!
Joy: It’s a miracle!
[Laughter]
Janna: It is amazing, people.
Isabel: It is amazing. And everyone say “I love you Tara” and welcome back.
[Laughter]
Isabel: And--
Joy: I love you, Tara!
Isabel: Everyone listening right now.
Joy: Oh, not us. Never mind.
[Laughter]
Tara: I love you, Tara.
Janna: Oh. We just do as we’re told.
Isabel: Yeah, exactly.
Janna: We love you like a smoking bunny!
[Laughter]
Tara: Oh, that means so much to me!
Isabel: Let’s hop into the news. There’s not much news, as usual. It’s the summer. Well, who wants to start with the Twilight Poison interview?
[Laughter]
Isabel: You know what? To be honest, a lot of this stuff has been repeated, already.
Tara: Yeah. About him not being able to get a date--
Isabel: All of this stuff.
Janna: I think it’s funny that he says the world has gone backwards, though, cuz that’s kinda fitting.
Isabel: With him, anyway.
Janna: Poor guy.
Joy: Well, it’s an old interview, too. So, I mean, a lot of it is just stuff that we’ve heard before. It’s just that we’ve finally got it--
Isabel: In one place?
Joy: In one place and translated. So.
Janna: Kristen and all that stuff.
Isabel: I liked the one about, “What do fans say when they meet you in person?” and I liked his answer. “They’re incredibly opinionated. They have very clear ideas as to how I should live my life. Who knew fifteen year olds could be so moralistic?”
Who knew, indeed?
Joy: Seriously. Okay, what--we have gotten a lot of interesting responses to his confession, I guess, that he did an audition for True Blood, which is the HBO vampire show. I’m not 100% sure that it’s true, cuz you know how sarcastic he is, and he always says things in such a way that people are like, “Is he serious or is he not?” So, kinda take that with a grain of salt, especially because this is the only time that we’ve ever heard him say this.
Janna: Right.
Isabel: And he likes to joke.
Joy: He does like to joke.
Isabel: He’s a jokey kinda guy.
Joy: And it’s possible--it’s totally possible that he auditioned for it. I mean, why not? True Blood came out--or started, rather-- before Twilight. I believe. I could be wrong; I read that somewhere. So, it’s totally possible that he auditioned for it but at the same time if this is the only place that we’ve ever heard him say it, I’m kind of inclined to think he was just being Rob and just making a comment.
Janna: When was this interview done? Is it recent, or is it?
Joy: This was done when Twilight came out.
Janna: Okay.
Joy: Or around that time, when he went down to Mexico.
Janna: Okay, so it’s older. Cuz just recently Stephen Moyer from True Blood called Edward Cullen out. I don’t know why they’re talking about this in the tabloids.
Isabel: Oh gosh.
Joy: That’s the stupidest thing.
Tara: Yeah.
Janna: The Slim-Fast-Diet-Coke of vampires and some other choice words.
Joy: I know, and people were all up in arms about it.
Isabel: And some other choice words.
Janna: Exactly.
Joy: And the thing is that he was saying that about Edward and not Rob, but people can’t separate so they were freaking out, as always, but whatever.
Janna: Right. That’s what I was thinking is if this was recent, maybe he was like joking because of that, but--
Joy: But if you think about it, if you’re really comparing True Blood and Twilight, I mean--
Isabel: Don’t.
Joy: They’re totally different! They’re like not even in the same realm, you know? They are two completely different kinds of vampire, for one thing, I mean--
Isabel: One’s sparkly and--
Janna: Yeah.
Isabel: And the other’s--
Joy: Yeah, a sparkly, gentlemanly, vampire, versus like, this HBO practically-porn vampire. I mean, yeah, okay, they’re a little bit different here, people.
Janna: Right, exactly.
Joy: So who cares if this guy is saying stuff?
Isabel: Well actually, in book four it’s practically porn, so I dunno.
[Laughter]
Isabel: I think some people would get--
Joy: [inaudible]
Isabel: I think it’s a kink more so than porn, but anyway--
[Laughter]
Isabel: Next on the news is another well-written article by Amanda Bell. She talks about Rob’s skyrocketing career and she talks about his movies that are coming out, doesn’t she?
Tara: Yeah.
Joy: Yeah it’s really great. I really enjoy reading her stuff. She’s very well-written and very knowledgeable about Twilight, too. So, she’s not just another one of those reporters who’s forced to write about Twilight. You know what I’m talking about? She really is a fan, so--
Isabel: She really wants to write about it.
Joy: Yeah, and she’s really a fan of Twilight and of Rob separately, so you know, she does a great article about his other films which people tend to forget about in the light of Twilight, and New Moon, and everything. And she’s kind of playing on what people have predicted beforehand--before Twilight--was that Rob is kind of gonna be the next Leonardo DiCaprio, and Johnny Depp, etc., etc., etc., and she’s kind of saying, you know, it’s coming true. He’s not just a blip on the radar anymore. So, I thought that was a really, really, well written article.
Tara: Yeah, I kinda like--even before Rob hit the big time, I always sorta compared him to Johnny Depp--I think it’s in one of our earlier shows, too--where I mentioned that, because of the roles he picks and of the characters he chooses to portray.
Isabel: I think that’s so true.
Tara: Yeah, he’s not afraid to try anything, and he’s not afraid to change his appearance in any way for a role. Like, if they told him that he had to gain twenty pounds and shave his head, he’d be like, “Okay!”
Janna: Yeah, he’d be like, “That sounds fun.”
Isabel: Yeah, I think he’d be down for anything. He doesn’t seem like he cares about his pretty-boy looks.
Tara: No, yeah.
Isabel: Yeah, he doesn’t need to be perfectly like, groomed and maintained all the time.
Joy: Which he isn’t, so that’s good--
[Laughter]
Isabel: What’d you say?
[Laughter]
Joy: I said, “Which he isn’t.” What did you say, Janna?
Janna: I said, “He doesn’t need a bouffant!”
[Laughter]
Isabel: Bouffant!
[Laughter]
Janna: Perfectly coiffed pea-coat.
Joy: Oh gosh, poor Rob, so abused.
Janna: We say it with love…ish.
[Laughter]
Joy: Well, going along with that, the Movie Fanatic did a similar article, just looking at his other film roles, and I thought that was really good, too. Just really, it went in depth on his other roles.
Janna: I think it’s good that it’s bringing to light his other work because, I mean, I’m a bigger fan of How to Be than Twilight and it kind of started picking up the pace a little bit and getting reported, but I think what ET has behind the scenes that they’re featuring, now.
Joy: The article I just thought, was very interesting cuz it goes pretty in depth on his upcoming movies like Remember Me and Unbound Captives, and Bel Ami, you know, it’s definitely worth the read.
Isabel: The Haunted Airman will be released in DVD in the US on October 13th--
Tara: Just in time for my birthday!
Isabel: And it’s not the most brilliant movie, but it’s a great book. So, read the book, watch the movie, buy the DVD. Comes out in the US on October 13th. Eclipse is filming in August, so everyone head to Vancouver and behave yourselves.
Janna: I read that Ashley Greene said they’re filming Breaking Dawn right after Eclipse is what she said in an interview.
Joy: Which is good.
Janna: Which is good.
Isabel: Yeah, that’s what Joy wants.
Janna: Well just to alleviate concerns--
Isabel: Confersion.
Janna: Confersion.
Joy: Just get this all over with.
[Laughter]
Joy: Oh, also, kind of a little aside, we learned that How to Be will be released on DVD in the fall. we didn’t get an official date, but that was through the official Twitter of the movie guys. So, August September, October, November, I mean, that’s fall time. So that’d be great if we could get that on DVD in the US, so look forward to that.
Isabel: Janna, do you wanna give out some Duh Awards, please?
Janna: Can we please have a Duh Award--drum roll please--for…
[Fake drum rolling]
Janna: Heat! Names Rob sexiest man on the planet. Uh, Duh.
[Laughter]
Janna: That’s a big fat, fat, duh for you and--
Isabel: And a slow clap
[slow clap in background]
Janna: People magazine also gets the clap, for letting us know that--
[Laughter]
Janna: Rob is People’s hottest--one of People’s hottest bachelors 2009, but…ah.
[Laughter]
Joy: I like this new award, I think we should do this all the time!
Isabel: Oh we’re--yes, Janna should do the Duh Awards all the time.
Janna: Duhhhhh!
[Laughter]
Janna: Shall we conferze you about New Moon in Tennessee?
Isabel: Oh yeah, we--I need to talk about that. Okay, so I can’t decide if this is real or not.
Janna: I have family that lives in Knoxville, and apparently they really are advertising already. She said that she’s seen flyers everywhere but she doesn’t know if they’re official flyers or not, and that everyone at her work is talking about it. That’s not a confirmation but I just figured I’d throw that out there that Knoxville is apparently atwitter.
Joy: Okay, well here’s--
Isabel: Atwitter, if you would.
[Laughter]
Janna: Atwitter.
Joy: Well, here are my thoughts, which I’m sure you all wanna know.
Isabel: Yes.
Joy: That doesn’t mean that any celebrities are gonna show up, you know what I mean? I mean, when Twilight came out they had like, ten different premieres. They had one at some hotel in Las Vegas, or something. I mean, there are premieres all over the place but that doesn’t mean that all the celebs are gonna show up--
Isabel: --Stars are gonna go there, yeah.
Joy: They’re gonna have one in
[Laughter].A., they’ll have one in London, they had some international ones and I’m sure they’ll do some more premieres, but that doesn’t mean that that is THE premiere.
Janna: Right, exactly.
Joy: I think that’s where people are getting confused. They’re like, “Oh my gosh! We all have to go to Knoxville!” No, you don’t have to go to Knoxville. I mean--
Isabel: Please don’t.
[Laughter]
Joy: I mean, if you’re in the area, you know, but don’t start booking your tickets because it could just be that that’s the premiere in that area; that’s really what that means. It doesn’t mean that that is the only premiere because Twilight had like, so many premieres, you know? And so that--they can’t---I don’t know. People are just very confused. I mean, that’s great. If they’re already advertising it, that’s probably true; they’re probably having one and, who knows, maybe some of the stars will show up. Probably not Rob, probably not Kristen, you know, it’s gonna sound mean, but not really like the big name stars, you know? It’s gonna be like some of the supporting cast, which is great and if you wanna go see that, go. But you know, I wouldn’t start booking my tickets now.
Janna: And the people of Knoxville would thank you.
Isabel: So the next two news points we have are from Mike Welch since he talks a lot about Rob lately and he’s kinda cute. So, why don’t you just take it away, Joy.
[Laughter]
Joy: I do love Mike Welch. I love him like I love Taylor Lautner. I mean, they’re just precious. He did some great interviews lately just talking about Rob and how he is concerned for him, you know? Just saying, you know, “I don’t know how he does it, it’s tough, I don’t know where his life is headed through all this,” and it’s just interesting, he was really showing some concern.
Janna: He discusses Rob and Chuck Norris, and who would win between Chuck Norris and Edward Cullen. Oh my God, it was like the best article ever!
Isabel: It was. That was the classiest article.
Joy: That’s the kinda stuff that we need more of, you know? I mean, we don’t care about Rob’s hair. We wanna know if he could kick Chuck Norris’s ass, you know? Alright, we’re gonna plow through the rest of the New Moon news, ready? Here we go.
Isabel: Okay, a few more New Moon tidbits. The MySpace is now open, and the soundtrack is available for pre-order on Amazon, I believe, and you can also pre-order a copy of the New Moon Official Movie Companion. It’s going to be released on October 6th of this year. This isn’t really New Moon, I guess it kind of is cuz they talk about it a little, but the producers talk about Rob on Radar Online and it was a June interview, I believe--
Joy: Wyck Godfrey, Greg Mooradian, and Guy Oseary were given an a vision award last month and they were just talking to Radar Online in a video. And they were just saying that they had to protect Rob while they were filming in Italy. It says, “We tried to keep him from getting torn limb from limb.” So you know, the craziness is just following him everywhere. It’s not just in LA or in New York, it’s going all the way to Europe, so.
It was a good interview. They only talked about Rob for a little bit. The interview’s about a minute and a half long, and they talk about their favorite books and a little bit about Rob. It was really good. They’re really cute and adorable. Well, talking about DVD’s, the Little Ashes DVD is going to be released July 13th, which is very, very soon, and that’s in the UK. We’re not getting a lot of US release dates right now. A lot of people have been asking about that but at this point we just kinda have to wait. Like, we don’t have any control over when the DVD’s come out, unfortunately. I wish we did, but a lot of people e-mail us and say, “Where can I buy the DVD for the US?” And everything, and you can, if you live in the US or in Canada or wherever you live--you can buy DVDs through Amazon.co.uk, you know, and--but you have to have a DVD player that plays all regions, if you wanna do it legally. I’m sure there are illegal ways to do it but we won’t talk about that.
[Laughter]
Joy: So, if you yeah, if you’re in the US and you’re waiting for a DVD of one of Rob’s movies like Little Ashes or the Haunted Airman, you just kinda have to wait if you wanna do it the right way. So, How to Be, yeah, did you guys watch that interview? Or, not that interview but the--
Isabel: ET on-the-set behind-the-scenes.
Janna: It was super.
Joy: Yeah I really, really liked that. I thought it was just fun and very low key. I love stuff like that. I’m surprised it took so long for it to come out. I don’t know why.
Janna: I love his cast mates in it, though. Even though like, this is--I think this was taken, I’m sure, before the hype kicked up. They’re like, “Rob is a dream to work with,” or a dream come true. They’re just so easygoing, it’s really funny.
[Laughter]
Joy: Oh, Rob.
Janna: And he’s--he seemed more himself in this one, too, cuz they’re older interviews. He seems a little more laid back.
Joy: It wasn’t really an interview. It was more a behind-the-scenes, like Rob being funny and stuff. It was cute.
Isabel: Okay, so Remember Me, there’s so--there’re set pics. Lots of set pics. Very many set pics.
Joy: Lots of set pics.
Isabel: We can’t go through individually each one and tell you how lovely and awesome they each are, but you should go check them out in the gallery. I think Joy wanted to make a point about the photos that we do have up about Remember Me.
Joy: I did, actually. Like we said, we have lots and lots of set pics. I mean, I can’t even tell you how many. And they’re really great. We’ve always loved set pics, but we wanna make sure that people understand that we’re trying really hard not to post paparazzi pics, and people say, “Oh, but how do you define paparazzi, what’s the difference?” Basically what our stand is, because anyone that knows us knows that we’re 100% paparazzi free, but we’ve talked about this extensively and we decided that we don’t feel that when Rob is on the set working, we don’t feel like those count as paparazzi pics. We don’t feel like that’s a part of his personal life, that’s a part of his professional life, and that’s what we’re here to do is to follow his professional life, and follow his career. So, we feel like those are behind-the-scenes working on the set. He’s on the job, you know, just like, you know, when I’m on my job, teaching, you know, if my principal comes into my room, I don’t feel invaded. I feel like that’s part of the job. Kind of not exactly the same parallel, not on the same level, but that’s kind of how I feel about it; that it’s not an invasion of his privacy because he’s working, he’s on set, and that’s what his job is, you know? So anyway, most--to be honest, like, we haven’t gotten any complaint e-mails about it, you know, nobody’s saying, “Oh how are you doing that?” We haven’t heard any of that, which is good. We want people to feel like we’re being--like we’ve got integrity, you know? We’ll be sort of consistent with what we’re saying about no paparazzi and all of these things, so we’re trying really hard to look at the pictures that we’re putting on the site. Obviously we’re not putting everything. There are plenty of paparazzi pics from Remember Me that we’re not putting on. So, we’re really trying hard to find that balance. If you find a picture in our gallery that you feel is paparazzi, please e-mail us and we’ll take care of that right away. Cuz a lot of times, with however many people we’ve got working on the site sometimes things get lost in the shuffle, so we really want you to help us.
Isabel: We wanna be consistent.
Joy: Yeah, we wanna be consistent. We don’t anyone to think that we’re being hypocritical, you know, just so we can get more pictures or whatever. That’s not our goal. We wanna bring pictures that are promoting Rob’s career and a lot of these pictures are just so wonderful. It kind of gives people a glimpse of what the movie’s about. Like, I personally love the pictures of Rob getting arrested. Like, those are hilarious, you know?
Janna: Yeah!
Isabel: I like the ones of him with like, the bloody lip and all that stuff.
Joy: Yeah. Like,, it’s fun cuz it gives us a little glimpse into what the movie’s about, and I feel like it’s the same way when he’s filming Twilight or New Moon or any other movie, if he’s on the set working--
Isabel: And we leaf through them and take out the more intrusive ones, I think.
Joy: We consider that--oh yeah, definitely gone through and taken out ones that we’ve caught that we think ooh, that’s really something--
Isabel: That’s not something that we are comfortable with leaving in our gallery.
Joy: --that we would consider paparazzi. Yeah, exactly.
Isabel: yeah, we’re really highly picky.
Joy: So we really don’t want people to think that you know, oh we’re just adding pictures just to say that we have them. We definitely don’t do that. And of course, if you do find something that you feel is breaking our policy, please e-mail us and let us know and we’ll definitely investigate. But we just kinda wanted to put that out there. Like I said, people have not been complaining like we haven’t gotten any angry how could you do this e-mails. But we just wanna be really upfront cuz we’re known in the e fandom for taking a stand against paparazzi and things like that so we don’t want people to think that we’re going back on our word. We’re still sticking to our guns. And that’s it.
Isabel: Well, this leads us, basically, to our Soap Box and our listener e-mails, and everything, but Rob being in new York has, we talked about this last PattyCast too, but Rob being in New York has brought up a lot of crazy activity, just a lot of bad behavior on the fans’ part and I can’t sugar-coat it anymore, you guys are behaving really badly and--
[Laughter]
Joy: It’s so true.
Janna: It is true.
Isabel: It’s so true, and now the gossip blogs are taking notice of this and they’re writing articles about how to leave Robert Pattinson alone, so I don’t know, let’s talk about that, ladies.
Joy: We have gotten so many e-mails about this, I mean, for every fan that is insane, and you know, aggressive and attacking Rob, there’s 10 who are just appalled by it, you know and want it to stop. Just going through the e-mails, we probably have a good 30 e-mails just this week about people saying, “I can’t believe this is happening, this is disgusting,” and you know, it’s shocking, it really is, but you know, like I said in one of my recent posts, I’m really proud to see that fans are taking a stand and that’s really what we want. It’s kind of like my mom always said, the squeaky wheel gets the oil, you know? Like, the louder you are, in your opinions, the more people are gonna hear you, and right now, the squeaky wheels are these crazy fans who are attacking Rob, and they’re the ones who are getting all the attention but if we can stand up and say, “We wanna put a stop to this,” and if we can get more people to stand behind this and be the squeaky wheels, then we’re the ones who are gonna get the attention and people are gonna stark to take notice and think, hey, this is not okay, this behavior of attacking celebrities, whether it’s Rob or whoever, it’s not coo, and it needs to stop. And the thing that’s shocking is that Rob getting hit by a taxi did not make nearly enough impact as I thought it should.
Isabel: No.
Joy: I mean, that kind of thing should make people stop in their tracks and yet, still it’s not, there’s still people out there who are prepared to push their favorite celebrity in front of a taxi just so they can get a picture with him. It just really makes me sick, and that’s all I have to say. Well, for now.
[Laughter]
Joy: I’m sure I’ll have more later.
[Laughter]
Joy: next.
Isabel: No, I obviously have said all this stuff before, so I dunno how many of our listeners are like actually still listening about us saying this stuff, but I feel like we still have to keep saying it if people are still not really listening. I mean, how can you mob someone who’s just walking down the street and put his, not just I mean, his life’s not in danger right now but just he’s said in interviews he feels like anyone can just go up to him and stab him with anything, I mean--
J: Well it’s true! I mean, somebody could. There are plenty of crazy stalker fans out there! Sorry
[Laughter]
Joy: Getting excited.
[Laughter]
Isabel: No, no there are a lotta crazy stalker fans out there, and that’s the thing is he’s like, not anymore, but he used to be scared about going out in crowds, and the thing is you can see it with the way he’s walking sometimes just down the sidewalk or looking around--well, if you see some of the set pics he’s actually looking around to se if there’s anyone like, watching him. So he’s watching people watching him.
Janna: Aw.
Isabel: It’s..I--
Tara: Yeah, no it’s gotta be--
Isabel: Who wants to live that way?
Tara: It’s gotta be horrible because like what if a fan, he doesn’t really know, I mean cuz people are just absolutely crazy. One person could just walk up to him and be like, “Can I have your autograph?” And their pen could actually be a frickin’ pen knife, and could you imagine that? Can I have your autograph? [stab noise]
[Laughter]
Joy: That’s sick, Tara.
Janna: Or bring like some crazy man who’s like, “My wife left me for you, Edward!” It’s like, “What?”
Joy: Yeah. It’s just frightening. Because I mean, like I was looking around, I was looking online today just about ways that we can you know, take a stand against paparazzi other than just saying, “I hate paparazzi,” But real legitimate ways, and I ran into quite a few sites that were talking about Princess Diana, which, you know, 12 years ago, I mean, for those young’uns who don’t know what happened to Princess Diana--
[Laughter]
Isabel: For anyone who doesn’t know who she is to begin with. we might have some listeners who don’t know who she is, so--
Joy: I mean, I remember so clearly the day that princess Diana died, and she died because her driver was trying to get her away from paparazzi and the paparazzi were chasing their car, I mean, you know, and there were a lot of other factors involved but the fact that we can put someone’s life in that much danger, I mean, the fact that they could have a fatal accident just because we wanna see a picture of them in a magazine? I’m not okay with that, I‘m really not, and you know, I think that Rob getting hit by a taxi should be a wake-up call and he is very fortunate that he did not get hurt. It still is just appalling. It’s absolutely appalling. When I first heard that rumor I was like, “You’ve gotta be kidding me.” I really did think it was a joke at first because it was just so horrifying, you know? But then to find out that it’s true that just because some fans wanted pictures and autographs that he got pushed into the street and was hit by a cab? I mean, it’s not cool, people. Come on.
Janna: That is sad.
Isabel: Well granted, he wasn’t hurt too badly but he was still hit by a vehicle. He was still struck by a vehicle.
Janna: I know! I mean, seriously.
Tara: When you’re you know, when you have a choice between, hm…getting smushed by a, like a freaking band of girls or getting possibly running across the street and getting hit by a taxi cab and he chooses the cab?
[Laughter]
Tara: I mean…
[Laughter]
Janna: That pretty much tells you something, people. And the Duh Award goes to…
[Laughter]
Isabel: All of Rob’s fans! No, just kidding.
Joy: I think, if I were him, I probably would’ve jumped in front of that cab just to get away from them.
Janna: And seriously, I can’t believe that it didn’t make as many people change their tactics or their ways. I mean, it doesn’t matter how not badly you get hit by a taxi, you still got hit by a taxi.
[Laughter]
Janna: Just because it wasn’t--
Joy: As someone who’s been hit by a car, it hurts.
[Laughter]
Janna: Aw.
Joy: I had a car back into me while it was still--
Joy: It hurt. It wasn’t going very fast, but it hurt.
[Laughter]
Joy: I mean, come on.
Janna: He still got hit by a car, like, come on.
Joy: I mean, we’re laughing just because--
Isabel: We’re not laughing at him, it’s just--
Joy: We’re laughing at just the ridiculousness of the situation.
Janna: And the people who’re probably like Edward Cullen is invincible! He’s like marble!
[Laughter]
Isabel: Like marbles.
[Laughter]
Joy: Yeah, well Edward maybe invincible, but Rob is like a skinny chicken leg boy. He will get broken, people.
Isabel: He’s got nice legs, yo.
Joy: Stop trying to break Rob! Oh gosh, now we’re just getting silly. But seriously we’re getting so many e-mails just this week, people who are just you know, venting, and it’s just amazing. I really love to read those e-mails, you know, it makes me feel good to know that there are people out there who really do care about Rob and feel as horrified as we do about this situation. So yeah, keep ‘em coming.
Isabel: Yeah, I love listener e-mails in general, so keep it coming.
Joy: Well, ,we, like I said we’ve gotten lots of listener e-mails this week, so we’re gonna go around and read some of the ones that we’ve gotten. We’re just gonna read straight through. The first one is from Louise, and she writes: “I noticed that recently, Robert seems to have picked up his smoking habit a bit more frequently and I just wonder if that's due to the stress of trying to complete his work and avoiding getting mauled by rabid fans. I'm sure its stressful trying to not freak out (especially for him) from all of the attention and media he gets and smoking is probably an outlet, just like his music may be, but making music takes more time. I just feel bad for him sometimes when I hear things about fans staking out the set and chasing him, and I'm sure he doesn't hope to be mean or anything, but he's normal too, and he's also private. It's known that Robert does like to keep to himself most of the time and all the news and attention he's getting isn't making his ego bigger, but probably making him more wary. Even if I'm hyped for all the movies he's making and stuff, I really wish he could just take a break from all the craziness and relax somewhere, where no one really knows him or recognizes him. I hope that we as Rob's fans recognize that he probably needs a break from all that craziness and hopefully we can get some people to back away from him.”
Joy: Great. Next.
Isabel: I’ll read. This next one is from Marci. “What is wrong with these people who are grabbing him and treating him like he is public property? How would they like it if they were walking down the street, trying to go to work and a complete stranger came up to them and screamed in their face and proceeded to grab them, all the while taking pictures of them on their stupid phone? They would call the police and get the crazy arrested!!! [
Isabel: Such a good point, Marci!] But in Rob's world this is a FAN!!! And he has to pretend like it doesn't really bother him because heaven forbid he try to assert his human rights like privacy and personal space, then he would be considered a jerk and not polite to his fans. These people need to come back to reality. Yes he is amazing and gorgeous and all that, but grabbing him and screaming and chasing him down the street is not going to do anything but make him want to go into seclusion and become a hermit. I was wondering do you think that the crazy people, the ones that chase him, grab him and basically stalk him, really like Robert Pattinson or are they in love with Edward Cullen and are just throwing all that energy on Rob? Also, I was wondering do you think that if the media, the gossip magazines, shows & websites, would slow down on reporting on Rob that the hysteria would slow down too? Or do you think that the hysteria will only slow down when the crazy fans find someone else to attack? Like, is the media frenzy feeding these girls or are these girls feeding the media frenzy? Or are they feeding each other?
Isabel: Great point. Can’t wait to answer this one.
Tara: ara And this next e-mail is from DJ, it says: “He is an actor, let him do his job! The fact that he was clipped by a taxi may not be as serious as it sounds but he could have been really hurt. These girls need to realise that their actions are only making him want to stay indoors and not meet fans. It is one thing to follow his career, look at a few photos, watch a few videos, and read some news about him, but it is another thing to terrorise him. They are invading his personal space, and they know that Rob is scared of crowds yet they still continue to STALK him! LEAVE HIM ALONE! They will be sorry if he decides to just ditch his acting career and hide away, that would be a shame because he is an amazing actor. I don't understand what these girls think they are going to achieve. Its not funny, its not something that they should be doing, its ridiculous!
Janna: So, Kathleen we have an e-mail from, and she says: “I am sure you are asked this a lot but how can I, personally, help Rob get some peace. I feel so embarrassed for him and yet I feel so helpless. I would of course love to meet him but I would never go up to him in the middle of the street or during a dinner of his because I find that very rude so how can I help from afar.....ugg its is so frustrating. I just want all the Rob Fans out there to just LEAVE HIM ALONE! Don't they realize, by him running in the opposite direction of them, that he doesn't like being mobbed by fans! Don't they realize he would probably attend more public events if he wasn't so scared of being killed. Don't they realize that, after the whole Twilight Saga, he can very likely disappear from Hollywood altogether if he is continually mobbed!!! Nobody wants that to happen!! Sorry, I probably seem very demanding and one-sided but I just want Rob to have an enjoyable memory of his career not a stressful one. I want to thank the PattyCast for continually speaking about this problem and I just want to know if there is anything you guys think I can do to help...I know its not my problem but I just feel so bad for Rob.”
Joy: Our next e-mail is from Ana, and she says: “I hate how people try and tell him what to do. Why should it matter who he's dating or if he shaved his head. It’s his choice; his personal life and people shouldn’t be snooping in it. I don’t think people have grasped that yet. I know if I ever met him, walking around, at a restaurant, or just anywhere. One side of me would love to go over and ask for his autograph and a picture, but the other side – the stronger side – would stay put and take in the moment of being that close. I would just leave him alone, because that might be the moment where Robert is catching up with a friend that he hasn't seen in a while and I know if someone did that to me it would be a little irritating or maybe he just want to be alone. Isn’t that what fans are suppose to be? Someone that admires and loves their work but also respects their privacy and space? Like Robert being afraid of crowds, why would people want to make him so uncomfortable? I just don’t get it. How can someone call himself or herself a fan when they are making his life miserable? Or so it seems, most fans just cross the line.”
Isabel: Jemma, she’s next, right? “I am appalled at how people think its okay to act like that around him. Do they understand what damage they're doing to him? Are they so wrapped up in their little "Rob & I" fantasies that they can't see that he doesn't like the attention? In the video, Robert would run his hands through his hair-a sign he's uncomfortable, from past interviews, and even his bodyguards have difficulty keeping the rabid fans away from him. It is sad to think that such a talented actor and musician is considering quitting what he loves and is good at, just to escape the fans. Its annoying to think that these fans-who don't know the limits could ruin it for the real fans, who appreciate him and his work.”
Tara: The next e-mail’s from Raina, and she has to say: “I often wonder how different this all would've been if Rob had never been cast as Edward in Twilight and i wanted to know what you guys thought. I mean, i'll readily admit i didnt know much of him before Twilight, but i dont see him just as Edward. I think that, most importantly, he would be much happier and great sites like your guys' would not be lumped together as crazed fan-girl sites or shitty tabloids. Im just sick and tired of all of this crap and the people who believe it and i am glad to know there are people who feel the same as i do.”
Joy: That’s just like, a sampling of the e-mails that we get. And those aren’t even full e-mails. I mean, I just picked the best parts. I’m just so amazed at how many people e-mail us with these just well thought out arguments against stalking and paparazzi and all this stuff. It’s fantastic and I just really, really love it, so keep e-mailing us, you guys. Let’s discuss a few of these.
Isabel: yeah, I do, I want to do definitely wanna go back to Marci’s. I really like her question. Do they really like Rob? Yes. I think they really do like Rob. I don’t think they know what the definition for like is though. I think it’s more obsessive liking at this point. And I think that I think it’s a combination In my opinion it’s a combination of the girls and the media. I think the girls are excited because of all the media coverage. But the media puts out because of the girls. So, I don’t know if it’s one or the other.
Joy: That’s very true.
Isabel: I think it’s both of them.
Joy: I think she really does have a point what’s causing all this? But I think it’s just a vicious cycle like you said, you know, the more pictures that the media takes and puts on magazines, the more the fan-girls will buy it, but the more that fan girls buy it, the more that they’ll take pictures, you know? It’s just never gonna stop unless fans take a stand and stop buying the crap that’s out there. If we don’t go to the gossip magazines for stuff, if we put down that copy of Life & Style--
[Laughter]
Janna: To name few.
Joy: Just put it down, cuz it makes a difference. And you might say to yourself, “Oh but it’s just me, everyone else is gonna buy it, so I might as well buy it, too,” you’re really just feeding the frenzy. It’s just making it worse. If each person could just take a personal stand and stop buying this stuff it’ll make a difference because the paparazzi is only going to photograph and follow and stalk the celebrities that people wanna read about and that’s why we don’t see the e paparazzi stalking people like--
Janna: Frankie Muniz.
[Laughter]
Isabel: What?
Janna: They do not stalk Andy Dick, you know? They don’t.
Joy: Yeah, they don’t--
Janna: Jim Carrey is awesome but they really don’t stalk him, either.
Joy: Yeah, they don’t stalk celebrities that nobody wants to hear about and it’s kind of a horrible thing to say and I’m not saying that everyone should start ignoring Rob but where do they get their information? How do they know what the girls what the fans wanna see? It’s by what we say online, what we buy, what we follow, you know, which sites get all the hits and stuff like that. That’s where they’re getting their information. There are people and companies out there that get paid lots of money to find out what fans want and if they’re seeing, “Oh, fans wanna see these pictures of Rob in his boxers coming out of his trailer!” or whatever, then that’s what they’re gonna try to get cuz they know that people are gonna buy it up. So if fans are actually taking a stand and saying, “I’m not gonna buy this magazine, I’m not gonna visit this website, I’m not gonna attack him in the street,” it’s gonna make a difference. And that she--Kathleen-- was asking, too. And many other people have asked us what can I personally do to help Rob get some peace? And that’s what you can do. Learn the difference between being a fan and being a stalker. I think that’s just a really important thing, and you know, a lot of people also e-mail us and just say how embarrassed they are to be a fan of Rob--not because of Rob but because of the other fans. And that’s horrible. Like, we shouldn’t be embarrassed to be a fan of Rob. You know, I don’t think that should be an embarrassing thing, but other fans are making it embarrassing for us, you know? Does that make sense?
Isabel: Yeah..
Joy: Cuz it’s these kind of people who end up going off the deep end, and we’ve talked about it before, these girls who are saying, “Oh, Rob I’m gonna kill myself if you don’t come see High School Musical with me,” you know?
[Laughter]
Joy: I mean, it--that kind of level of obsession, I’m sorry girls, but it’s not love, it’s not even a crush, it’s an unhealthy obsession if you’re considering taking your own life over a celebrity who doesn’t even know you exist. You know, that’s really unfortunate that it’s gotten to that point and you know, we think--there are plenty of celebrities that have been killed by their fans. I mean, gosh, I’m totally dating myself, but like, Selena? She was killed by the president of her fan club. It’s just really, really sad. And I’m not saying that these girls who want Rob’s autograph are gonna go out and kill him, that’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is this kind of obsession can lead to things that nobody wants. To be quite honest, someone like we’ve said, someone could stab him in one of those crowds, and that would be a horrible wake up call, that would be come on, a billion times worse than him being hit by a cab.
Janna: You would think, though, that--
Joy: You would think.
Janna: --Getting bumped by a cab would at least wake some people up, but no it was kind of just brushed under the rug, like no big deal.
Joy: That’s what just frustrated me, I mean, it just, am I the only one that’s shocked that everyone’s like, “Ah, he just got bumped, he’s fine, let’s go back to stalking.” I mean, come on.
Janna: Well, I think, too, like partially his management also said, no big deal. Like, he’s fine, don’t worry about it. I think they kind of need to take, I know that they’re putting more bodyguards and etc. I don’t mean to like hate on the management parade like we always do, but I mean, really, somebody needs to take a stand for him because he’s not able to do it for himself. It’s not like anybody would let him get a word in edgewise, you know what I mean?
Isabel: But I think the thing is they’re doing the no comment.
Janna: Yeah, it’s always no comment.
Joy: They need to make a comment. His management needs to get out there and say, look, make it stop, you know? Alright, well before we move on to the rest of our thoughts, we will say goodbye to Tara!
Tara: Bye!
Isabel: Goodnight, Tara, sleep well!
Joy: She has to go to bed.
Tara: Yeah, I have work at an insane hour in the morning.
Joy: Well, on a final note, let’s just look at that last question from Raina. I just thought it was interesting how she mentioned, “Would this all be different if Rob hadn’t been cast as Edward in Twilight?” What do you guys think?
Janna: I think so, I dunno. I don’t think it would’ve came on so quickly, and perhaps it wouldn’t--
Isabel: You know what? I don’t think he would be this famous. I’m just gonna say it: I don’t think he would’ve been this famous, flat out. Like, I think he’s a good actor and I obviously believe in his talent and I think he’s a great musician but I don’t think he would’ve been this famous.
Janna: Right.
Isabel: At all.
Joy: Agreed.
Janna: It especially wouldn’t be the level that it is right now where--
Isabel: He was thinking about quitting acting when he got into Twilight, so I don’t think that I think that without Twilight not a lot of people would’ve heard about Robert Pattinson.
Joy: I definitely agree. I mean, he had a steady following of loyal fans, I mean, we’ve been following him for almost four years now, and we’ve seen the fandom just explode ever since Twilight, I mean, you know? The day that we found out that he got cast I knew that it was never gonna be the same, this is a really big deal, and in a lot of ways it’s been good for him. I don’t think necessarily that he regrets the role; I think he probably regrets what it’s done to his personal life, but I don’t think he’s--I don’ think he hates Twilight by any means. I think he appreciates what it’s done for him and I think when he’s done with the movies I think he’ll look back and think oh that was a good experience. I n some ways. Probably in the working aspect. But I mean, if we think about what it’s done to his personal life, if it was me, I would probably wish that I hadn’t done it. I mean, to answer her question, I really, like you guys said, I don’t think that tit would be anywhere near this crazy if he had not been cast as Edward. There would be some other Edward--
Janna:; Well I mean, he was in Harry Potter, granted he wasn’t the main characters, as he is with Edward, but he didn’t get caught up as much, you know what I mean? He managed to escape that one.
Joy: Well, I feel like that was productive. You know we always have thoughts about stuff like this, so I mean, please please please e-mail us if you’ve got--if you just feel like you need to vent or you just wanna say you go girls--I can’t pull that off--or if you wanna disagree with us and think that we’re stupid, e-mail us. Let’s go on and finish up the other e-mails. We’ve got quite a few listener e-mails not related to the stalking madness.
Isabel: I’ll read Geneva’s. “Since Rob is becoming more famous, do you think his earlier movies will be made available in the U.S.? Of course our DVD players are a different region than what I've seen for "Bad Mother's Handbook", "Haunted Airman", and "How to Be".
Joy: Well I mentioned this before about how you can buy the DVD’s from the UK if you get a DVD player that plays multi-regions. I’m sure if you Google it--Google is your friend--you can probably find the right kind of dvd players or tricks to get them to play in your dvd player. I’m sure people always come up with stuff like this. But hopefully there’s enough demand that they’ll come out. We know how to be is coming out in the fall. but that’s what I’m hoping. I think if people show that they want these DVD’s out in the US then they’ll come. I mean, these people are in the job of marketing their movies. They’re not gonna ignore the people in the US who want these movies. Okay, I really love the next question from Katy. It just made me laugh. She says: “I think the Patty Cast crew should have a little fundraiser and buy our poor rob some new shoes :) While viewing some pictures of Rob at the Remember Me sight I noticed him wearing the same shoes that he was when he was with his buds at the Vogue dinner AND practically every casual picture of him taken...if these are the same shoes the must be very smelly by now and well perhaps people who think he smells bad are in fact smelling his rotting shoes!! They are black so you know they would smell raunchy. I know Rob is "the human garage sale " :) even garage sales have shoes ?”
[Laughter]
Isabel: The sad thing is, we bought him a pair of shoes like three years ago.
Joy: We did!
Isabel: We did, they were Converse, they were all decorated. It was part of--it was actually his first birthday present from the site and he wrote back to us, they’re a bit big for him, but he got some new shoes from us.
Janna: You know what the sad thing is, is that I know exactly what shoes she’s talking about.
Isabel: Oh yeah? Yeah they’ve been around forever. The ones without his laces, right?
Joy: Yeah, it’s those all-black shoes that he wears everywhere. You know, they’re probably comfortable. I’ll admit that I have one pair of shoes that I will wear all the time just because they’re so dang comfortable. But I mean, you know, I’m not making m millions of dollars, so I can’t really afford to buy myself new shoes. Rob can. Rob, go shopping. But the sad thing is, is all of hiss other friends, they don’t do that. I mean, hello, Tom Sturridge? He doesn’t buy his own clothes, either. They’re all like, “Hey man, I don’t wanna wear this anymore, you want it?” And they just, you know, come on. But the answer to your question Katy, we did buy him some new shoes and he didn’t wear them cuz they were too big. So. Yeah. Maybe next year for his birthday we’ll get him another pair.
Janna: I cannot imagine just wearing one pair of shoes. That’s like, what?
Isabel: This is an e-mail from Allyson: “Since Rob has become so popular and famous, do you think he'll continue doing large franchise films after Twilight? Or do you think he will go back to doing his small independent films again? If Rob does go back to filming mostly independent films, do you think they could become large and heard-of like Twilight?”
I think we’ve answered this before, a couple times, actually, but I think that he’s going to do independent films, I don’t think he’s gonna go back and just do solely independent films but I think he’s gonna have a mix so that he’s a well-rounded actor. I think that’s his aim. I don’t think that he wants to be boxed into anything, so I’m pretty sure that he’s going to go back to doing independent films. As for doing mostly independent shoes, I don’t think so. Do I think they can be large and heard of like Twilight? I think so, like How to Be and Little Ashes rode on the coattails of Twilight, sadly, even though they’re great movies on their own. But I think they’ll become more large and heard of because of Rob.
Joy: I totally agree.
Janna: Yeah, I agree. Very well said. An e-mail from Brie says, “I was just listening to your PattyCast Snarky and The question was if you were team Edward or team Jacob or Switzerland. Truthfully I don't know what team I'm on. But I think the way some people look at it...it's not the character but the people who play the roll. The chose what team they are in by "who's hotter" instead of which character you truly like. Am I acting crazy? Or do you sort of feel the same way?”
Joy: Yes to both questions.
[Laughter]
Joy: I’m just kidding.
Janna: Yeah, you are acting crazy, and--
Joy: You’re not crazy. Yeah, I think she’s right to an extent. I think people who were fans of the book first, like who were into the books before all the movie hoopla, they have chosen their team or whatever. I mean, I was Team Edward before Rob was cast, I’ll admit it. But I do have a soft spot for Jacob, he’s adorable. Anyway, I won’t go into that, but I think a lot of the people who just--
Janna: Pervert.
Joy: --who’ve just jumped on the bandwagon since the movies, I think, yeah, I mean, they don’t have the books to back it up, all they’ve got is these people on screen, so I think a lot of it is who’s hotter or which actor do I like better, and that’s not to say that that’s a bad thing necessarily, I mean, whatever, I’m not saying everyone has to be a fan of the books or whatever some people just like the movies. But, you know, I think she’s got a good question, but I think it’s kind of an individual thing. Danielle wanted to know when Rob was coming back to the UK. Um, I hope it’s soon.
Janna: For his sake.
Joy: I think he’s safer there! And I think he misses it I mean, his family’s there, come on. I’m sure he gets sick of living in trailers and hotel rooms and you know.
Isabel: Sadly I don’t have a specific date for you, Danielle, but hopefully soon.
Joy: Tuesday, July 15th. No, just kidding.
Janna: He has so much going on with all of the movies he’s in. it’s impossible to know.
Joy: Yeah, I think it’s gonna be quite a while before he’s permanently back in the UK cuz he’s gotta finish Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are next, you know,, and he’s gotta finish his new movies. Unbound captives remember me Bel Ami, all those, so I think it’s gonna be a while but hopefully he’ll at least get to go home for vacation. And take a break. It seems like he’s going nonstop.
Janna: Perhaps he’ll get to go home like he did with the UK premiere. Like the UK premiere for new moon.
Joy: Oh yeah, that’s true. I’m sure he will. Our last e-mail for today is from Sylvia and she says, “I would really like to understand, perhaps from a psychologists point of view, how it is that Pattinson has spawned this extraordinary global (largely female) following? We all know he is incredibly good looking, moves beautifully, and has an easy and charming presence, but do these things really explain the phenomenon? I would like to understand this phenomenon, because apparently there has never been anything like this. Pattinson inspires adoration across cultures, generations and it would seem, all the time. The interest and attention never wanes, whether he is promoting a film or not. He himself said in his Cannes interview that he doesn't understand how it can be interesting looking at the same person over and over again from a thousand different angles... yet here we all are, doing just that! Why? I mean, deeply, why?” The question is like, what is it about Rob, what is this phenomenon, like why is it happening. Although she did say it’s never happened before but I think we need to look at A the Beatles and B Elvis. That kind of fan obsession, that’s what we’re saying here. I mean, my mom was a Beatles fan girl. She was totally one of those girls who went to the concerts and screamed bloody murder. She had all of their albums and dressed in go-go boots and learned all of their dances and songs, I mean she was crazy. This Is not a new thing, it’s something that happens over and over again, but my opinion and it’s probably not even psychological, it’s probably just my own crazy thoughts, but I really think that it’s just something about celebrities that make us feel famous, you know what I mean? There’s something about saying I’m a fan of the Beatles, or Elvis, or Robert Pattinson, or whatever, that makes us feel like we have some connection to this other world. Am I totally crazy or do you guys know what I’m talking about.
Isabel: I think it’s because of the movie. I think it’s because Twilight has a big fan following and he’s a good-looking guy, I don’t think it’s anything like anything that we need to explain psychologically, like girls like looking at pretty things, and they--
[Laughter]
Joy: Shiny!
Isabel: Get obsessive about books that have to do with dating and finding the perfect boyfriend. Like, this recipe isn’t new. So I don’t think it’s like there’s something special about Rob, I think he’s a great musician, he’s a good actor, but I don’t think like, I don’t think his poo smells like roses, I think that--
[Laughter]
Isabel: I just think that he’s
Janna: That’s what I was thinking earlier!
[Laughter]
Isabel: Well I just think that he--it’s circumstance more than anything. That catapults people to fame. It’s kind of it’s a phenomenon kind of, like a tipping point. Like he was doing well, he’s good looking, but as soon as Twilight hits, it shot up into a new dimension for him, so that’s why guys that’s why people like him, that’s where they see him they see him from and it’s no jump that when you always see Rob on TV or you he’s constantly, cuz they did a lot of promotion he’s constantly on your television, he’s constantly on magazines, he’s constantly on the internet and you’re looking at something that’s aesthetically pleasing to look at, you’re gonna wanna know more, wanna see more pictures, I think it’s just human nature to want to know more about other people. Everyone’s so curious about everyone else.
Janna: Yeah, and people are kind of I don’t really know how to explain it, but like natural bandwagoners?
Joy: I think you were right about what you were saying, though, about Twilight, because I think it’s all about the timing. The Beatles didn’t become big until they really came to the US, and you know, the US was going through such a time with JFK being shot and Elvis was kind of on his way out and people were really like looking for something to latch onto. Like you said, natural bandwagoners. A lot of people do have that obsessive tendency, they need to latch onto something, to follow something, to be a fan of, and I think Rob has come it at that time, you know? I mean if you think about it right now, who else are the really really big celebrities, you know? Because celebrities like Brad Pitt and George Clooney and that kind of generation of celebrities, you know--celebrity is really kind of a generational thing, you know?
Janna: And to be honest, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were a lot bigger of a story and an item and constantly on the tabloids until the Twilight phenomenon came along.
Joy: Exactly, I totally agree. You know, it’s just--it is really a matter of timing just like you were saying. Twilight was big, and so when Rob jumped on that, he became big as well, so I don’t think it’s really a psychological thing, like Isabel was saying. I mean, I’m sure there’s probably some people who need to see a psychologist because of this, but I don’t think this whole phenomenon is like, some deep, psychological
Isabel: Psychological issue.
Joy: --issue that we need to explain--
Isabel: No, girls like pretty boys!
Joy: The real question is, why is he popular? Girls like pretty boys.
[Laughter]
I: Yes, girls like to look at pretty boys and girls like to think that they can date someone like that.
Joy: Exactly, it kind of says something to aspire to even though deep down we know it’s never gonna happen, there’s something about that just learning everything about him, knowing everything about him kind of makes us feel like we are dating him and I say we in a general sense cuz obviously I’m not that crazy.
[Laughter]
Janna: Yeah, I’m like, I don’t feel like I’m dating him.
Joy: But you see like, there’s something about us like Isabel said, we just naturally wanna know about people, we wanna latch onto things and it’s all about timing. I think if Twilight wasn’t a big fandom in itself and Rob had just done some little vampire movie, yay, it wouldn’t’ve been a big deal, yeah, he probably would’ve gotten some more fans and people would’ve been like, this is interesting, but I think it’s just that he happened to join onto this huge fandom right in a time when these little teenyboppers are latching onto Edward Cullen and it’s just --it just exploded because of that.
Isabel: And it’s not just young girls, too, and I think it’s a phenomenon because young girls and their mothers read this book at the same time together, and they both enjoy watching Robert, because who--
Joy: Yeah, you’re right, I totally agree.
Isabel: Like, girls and their moms read this, and a lot of girls really like this story and they can relate to it. Like Bella’s an awkward high school teenager. Who doesn’t want to be Bella? Not me, but I meant,
[Laughter]
Isabel: What girl who really likes this story and who’s really into the movies?
Joy: Well, see, that’s the thing, is Bella is a very identifiable character, too. Stephenie Meyer I think purposely wrote her to be kind of the everyman character. I mean, we could go on and on for hours about why girls and boys love to read Twilight and their moms and everybody, but you know, the point is, Rob just got on at the right time or the wrong time depending on your perspective and that’s where it all comes from. And that’s not to say, there are plenty of fans like us who were fans of Rob before he got on Twilight. So I don’t want you to e-mail me angrily saying, “It’s not because of Twilight that I love him!” I think that’s the majority of his fan base right now, and eventually when Twilight’s over, it’ll fade out, there’ll be lots of girls who’ll move on to the next shiny thing, you know? And those who are true fans will stick with him.
Janna: And you know what? I bet you after New Moon, perhaps they w ill move onto Mr. Lautner.
Isabel: Yeah.
Joy: Who is precious. Everyone go stalk Taylor, he’s cute.
Isabel: Yeah, everyone go do that. No, no! We’re not sending crazy people his way!
[Laughter]
Joy: I was just kidding. Pretend like you’re invisible and he can’t see you, that’s how you should act around him. No, Taylor’s precious. I think you’re right though. I think there are gonna be a lot of girls who’re gonna switch over to team Jacob after this.
Isabel: Yeah
Janna: Right.
Joy: Because I’ll just throw it out there, he’s just precious, and he’s a sweet kid, and--
Janna: We’ll just throw it out there, he’s good looking, I mean, hey.
Joy: He is, he’s a good looking kid and he’s real sweet and personable and there’s gonna be a lotta girls who’re gonna--
Isabel: He’s so nice. He is so nice.
Joy: --jump off the Rob bandwagon and then hop on the Taylor bandwagon, and that’s fine, go for it, less for us to deal with. Okay, I have to keep editing myself today it seems like.
Isabel: You know what? I don’t think you should edit that. Cuz it’s true.
[Laughter]
Joy: We deal with a lotta crazies. It’s true. I say this kind of in jest, but partly honestly because we do get a lot of amazing fans I mean, seriously, for every crazy there’s a hundred awesome people. Our crazy e-mail folder is very small compared to the e-mail of people that we just love, so I don’t want people to think, “oh my gosh, they hate the fans!” Because we don’t, we really don’t, we love our fans--
Isabel: We love everyone!
Joy: You guys are awesome and we love all the e-mails that you send us, but you know, to be honest, we do get crazy people too, there’s plenty out there and if you’re honest you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about
[Laughter]
Isabel: Exactly.
Janna: Are we talking about you?
Joy: Alright, let’s wrap up girls--
Isabel: Let’s totally wrap-up. There’s only a few--
Joy: --we gotta finish this.
Isabel: Little things we talk--we’ll talk about. But enter our contest to win Sam Bradley’s signed album, he signed it this past April and it’s fantastic, and it’s his first self titled CD and in order to win and in order to join you need to send us a stick figure drawing of the Brit Pack, which is Rob, Sam, Bobby, Marcus, and Tom.
Janna: Woohooo
Isabel: So send us a drawing, stick figures, easy. Everyone can draw stick figures. And win a CD.
Joy: The deadline is July 12th which is right around the corner and you have to be a member to join. If you go to the website, you’ll see on the right side, on the sidebar, a little icon. I f you click on that where it says, “Win a Signed Copy of Sam Bradley’s Album,” it’ll take you to the rules and how to submit.
Isabel: yes. And well, our biggest thing this week, apparently, for all of us--was it this week, or was it last week that we even started this? Who knows, all of us--
Joy: Who knows!
Isabel: All of us are on Twitter. Follow the Webmisses--
Janna: We were just talking about Twitter in the last PattyCast. Making fun of it.
[Laughter]
Isabel: Yeah, we were making fun of Twitter, and now we’re all sell outs.
Janna: It’s addicting!
Joy: Hey, I have had a Twitter for a very long time. I sold out first, okay?
Isabel: Okay, good.
[Laughter]

Joy and Janna are both going to some Twilight conventions this summer, so hear all about where they’re gonna be and what you can expect.
Joy: Alright, well, I’m gonna be going to the Twi-Tour spotlight on Twilight convention in Atlanta. This weekend, actually. I’m really excited about it because as everyone knows, I’m a huge Twilight fan and I know there’s gonna be a lot of other fans there, as well, so I’ll be there Friday Saturday and Sunday. That’s July 10th, 11th, and 12th. I’m just gonna be hanging around so please come and say hi to me, I tend to be really shy around new people, and I’m not real good at like being the initiator when meeting people, so if you see me and you recognize me, just come and attack me. I give you permission to be a stalker. Just of me, though, not of anyone else. Just come and say hi, please. I’m gonna hopefully have stickers to pass out if I can get my printer to work. I’ll also be there to give fans opportunities to record a little something for the PattyCast maybe. Give your opinions on Twilight and Rob and all sorts of things, so come and say hi to me, I really wanna meet lots of people, it’ll be a really good time. So if you’re gonna be at the Twi-tour convention in Atlanta this weekend, stop by, I will be there.
Janna: Yay! And I am completely the opposite, I am loud, I am super obnoxious--
Joy: Yeah, we know.
Janna: And I will be at Twi-con in Dallas. I’m gonna be there all of the days when it’s taking place. I will be there everywhere, also I’m gonna be at Marcus and bobby’s Poor David’s gig, as well as the triple threat show at Poor David’s pub, where all three of our network boys Bobby Long, Marcus Foster, and Sam Bradley will be performing, so come say hi. I can’t promise that I will not be loud,
[Laughter]
Janna: But I’ll definitely be funny.
Joy: Yeah, that’s so true.
Isabel: Awesome, awesome. So everyone go see Joy, say hi, everyone try to avoid Janna, and
[Laughter]
Isabel: We’re good.
[Laughter]
Isabel: No, just kidding. Janna’s actually gonna have some awesome things for us in Dallas. I can’t tell you just how excited I am.
Joy: It’s gonna be really great.
Isabel: Yeah, for the network.
Janna: First off in the network news, let’s toot our own horns a bit, as Joy worked her magic and managed not to kill me and Isabel, and I have to say she did an amazing job, if you haven’t seen the sites, we completely re-did the layouts and they are awesome. A good portion of the pictures on the pages are our own exclusive pictures from previous articles an show coverage, so it really just feels like a more like personal feel, huh?
Joy: yeah
Janna: And we also kind of interpreted each o f the guys’ personalities into their sites,, so Sam’s is kind of like a fiery orange cuz he’s all jumpy and happy Bobby’s a moody blue, cuz he’s moody, and Marcus--
[Joy laughs in back ground]
Janna: Who we affectionately refer to as Marcus the Mad hatter, has mad hatter green, which is my favorite
[Laughter]
Janna: So if you haven’t seen the new sites, what’re you waiting for? Go check ‘em out. And now for some amazing press. P-r-e-s-s, for our guys, as they seem to be getting bigger and better with every update we do, okay, so Sam Bradley’s currently on tour he’s making his way around the southern states in America, and a few of the eastern states, he’s on tour supporting Thriving ivory and he’s brought his Men who we love along for a few of the shows, as well, so exciting, the reviews of the shows have been trickling in and the consensus is of course that Sam is an amazing live performer, very charming, he is also, I f you haven’t noticed on the site, he has kicked off on a bit of a media blitz hitting radio and television shows, he’s been on Fox news and some local newspapers, so there Is a lot of great news, even some audio and video clips, and pictures up on the site, you should really go check ‘em out because not only is Sam an amazing musician but he’s also really funny and he always makes me laugh in every interview that we do, so if you haven’t seen him, you should go, it’s worth it. He’s gonna be on tour for a while, he’s ding pretty much show after show straight through into august, and we will be catching up with him in Dallas, and we’re looking forward to that a lot. He’ll be performing at the Twi con event in Dallas as well as the after show party that I’ve deemed the triple threat show with Bobby and Marcus, so he’s got quite a bit going on and even though he’s quite busy, Sam loves to keep up with his fans who he refers to as his audience. He’s been bantering back and forth with us with challenges and funny faces on his Twitter account, so if you aren’t subscribed to that, check him out at samuelltwitt1 on twitter, and there’s also a link on our network page if you’re new to Twitter and you need some direction. Also, as Isabel mentioned, we do have a member’s only contest for a signed copy of his CD for our Pattinson online members only, so check that out on the site, there’s a big link to it on the sidebar. We are getting dangerously close, pun intended, again, just the same as last PattyCast to Bobby Long’s upcoming full US tour, he’s coined it as his dangerous Summer tour and dangerous It is, indeed. All of the tour dates for the summer are finalized now, there were some changes back and forth that we talked about, things were changing, times were changing, and due to popular demand a lot of the venues lowered their age requirements or just basically opened the show for all ages, so that’s great for the younger fans. You can find all the dates the times the venue information an links, etc, on our bobby long network site. Just click on the tour icon on the right hand side. In other Bobby Long news, we have quite a bit of new music coming from the bluesy boy, he as a surprise to everyone released the bounty of Mary Jane on iTunes for download, and a surprise to everyone including himself, there was a bit of a snafu--
[Joy laughs in background]
Janna: --on iTunes. It was a due for release just before he came to America at the end of July, but unfortunately, iTunes messed that one up and that’s lucky for us, I guess because we got it early. He’s been [xx] us with quite a few songs on his YouTube channel, which are kind of funny because in typical Bobby camera kryptonite fashion, you can’t actually see him in the video
[Laughter]
Janna: Just random body parts. Get your mind out of the gutter, folks! I meant like hands and arms, etc.
Joy: Uh-huh.
Janna: Uh-huh. The attention’s on books and pictures he thinks are special and he wants to showcase, so those are really great songs you should check ‘em out, there’s also some great articles on the site with good pictures, so wrapping up with Bobby, we’ll be catching up with him later in Dallas at Twi- Con and the Poor David’s pub after show party, so stay tuned to the sites, we’re gonna have some great network stuff that we can’t really talk about but it’s gonna be pretty frickin’ cool, so keep looking. And poor, dear Marcus, I love Marcus. Bless Marcus. He’s my favorite, he has had to cancel a couple of his shows most recently the [xx] Jam gig with Alabama Three due to his tragic thumb injury. He apparently got into a fight with a machine while sculpting and the machine won that round, so he is currently down but not out. He may be taking a break from live shows for a short time but he released his EP on iTunes, yay , and immediately shot to number one on the top albums for the singer/songwriters genre, which it’s no surprise to us cuz he’s super talented but amazing nonetheless. He’s still making his way to the US and he is going to do the live shows at the end of this month in a few short weeks we’ll be finally not only able to see him live, which if it’s not incentive enough, but we’ll be catching up with him in Dallas with our little network exclusives and we’re gonna be looking forward to picking his brain and meeting the man himself. Like we mentioned earlier, we’re gonna be at Twi-con, so come say hi, speaking of Dallas, okay, as we mentioned, I’m gonna be at Twi-Con and I will be at the Triple Threat After Party show for Bobby Long Marcus Foster and Sam Bradley. They’ll be performing throughout the night, but I really want to mention that it’s not likely they’ll be performing together. We can maybe try to convince Marcus and Bobby to perform Crooked Sky for us, but they’ll be performing at some point throughout the night individually and then doing meet and greets with fans, generally hanging out and having fun with everybody, but they are individual artists, they’re all amazing very talented and they put on such different shows that it’s gonna be epic in itself. We’re probably not gonna see them as any kind of like, trio. So anyway, just wanted to mention that just in case anyone was looking forward to some sort of huge epic performance cuz that’s probably not gonna happen. So come say hi, the show information is listed on all three of our network sites under the tour information, it’s also featured on all of their front pages as well. You can get your tickets at frontgatetickets.com and I will see you there. Maybe hang out and have a beer.
Isabel: I think that’s it. It’s late, and I’m tired, obviously--
[Laughter]
Isabel: it’s time for bed, so goodnight, Rob world, bye from Isabel!
Janna: Goodnight Rob world!
Joy: And from Joy.
Janna: and from Janna.
[Outro music]
