Plot Summary: A poor young woman named Tess tries to reclaim her family’s fortune when she discovers that she is distantly related to the wealthy and aristocratic d’Urbervilles. She is seduced by Alec d’Urberville, who takes advantage of her and ruins her life. Tess, determined to hide the truth of her past, seeks true love and happiness away from the d’Urbervilles, but her past soon finds her once again, and Tess must make an agonizing choice.
