I know I am the only woman on the planet that feels this way, but I totally side with Edward in this matter. Edward knew whatever was inside her was going to kill her. His only thought was for her safety.

Like I said, I do not think it's virtuous or noble to carry a baby to term when it threatens your life. I think that is irrational and stupid. Breaking Dawn was my least favoirtie book for that reason alone. I feel as a young adult novel, it gives girls the wrong impression about their worth in the world. It tells them their only purpose is to bring forth an offspring no matter what it is. There is no concern for the mother's life in Bella and Rosalie's decision. The book tells them that their life is only important in relation to their ability to pro-create.

That is just my opinion of course. It took me a long long time to read Breaking Dawn the first time. It completely changed my view of Bella. Now that I"ve read it serveral times, I am more understanding of her decision, but only because it creates drama for the book. I could not have any respect for a woman who gave up her life like that.

Yes, i agree with you, I also take Edward's side. And Breaking Dawn was my least favorite book as well…

I side with Edward aswell. Bella's reaction was weird. I didn't like it at all.

I don't agree with: "it gives girls the wrong impression about their worth in the world. It tells them their only purpose is to bring forth an offspring no matter what it is. "
That goes a bit too far in my opinion, I think most girls are smarter than that. And in the real world the 'no matter what it is' doesn't really count.

Just because Bella made that choice (eventhough it was a dumb one) Doesn't mean that the book is telling girls that they're only made to pro-create. It's just how a person perceives it.

I liked Bella alot more in the first 2 books. She was just a girl then. Not a mother-to-be. Most girls can't relate to that anymore, atleast I could'nt. I think Mrs. Meyer just wanted to have Bella a baby because she has kids herself. And she propably thinks it is a great thing but it's not for the audience. I thought Bella accepted the babt way too easy aswell. But that's propably thanks to the writer aswell. I don't think Bella would've reacted like that if she was pregnant in book 2 or something.

Can't say anything about the next chapters but in my opinion the baby was the most stupid thing in the book, and it made me hate a certain person who is envolved with the baby as a character aswell.

NO! Books 1-3 give the wrong impression. In book 1 Edward says I m a murderer and i want to kill you as well and she wanted to be with him anyway. Book 2 he leaves and she does stupid things just to hear is voice not to mention if a dude break with you do u become a freakin zombie? No wrong message! Book 3- she doesn't rationally make a choice. Jacob is better for her. She saw it all when she kissed him…she felt the ease of fear and tension when she was with him escaping Edward's stress filled world… Last book Bella finally thought logically..she progressed to from no brain Bella to a mature woman making a decision about her body. Ultimately she loved her child more than her self hence the necklace more than my own life. Book 4 is when Bellla finally earned my respect.

Um…I understand what you're saying but you don't sound like a mother or a person who has been in love. I thought that it was initially a really brave decision to insist that she kept the baby. After that I stepped back because it got real intense and I wasn't sure anymore of what was growing inside her. I was eager to see what the hell it was and finally in the end I was happy that all was well. I applaud Bella for staying strong and sticking to what she believed…It was first time I like Bella through the entire series. When she said she was keeping her baby I was like WOW. Go Bella!

I completely agree with Edward as well. I have read the book several times and I still sway to that side no matter how open minded I try being about Bella’s perspective. Edward was concerned soley for Bella’s safety and nothing else. Bella choosing to “unconciously decide” to keep the baby was unbelievable in my opinion because she never would have made that decision before, even “unconciously”. This just goes to show how inmature and nieve Bella really is about life.

This was also my least favorite of the series for the sole fact that the baby was suddenly thrown on us. I agree that this isn’t something that connected with the audience very well. I personally am in my 20′s and I didn’t connect well with it either. So I’m disppointed that the author decided to take this type of turn with series…

i too side with Edward,as he tries to talk sense into to Bella to get rid of something that is killing. This shows how much he cares for her and how much pain it causes him to see her in pain!!Love Yah Edward!!!N Love Yah Rob!!!

I too wouldn't have understood why Bella would choose the baby over her own life, and then I became pregnant and now I understand! a father cannot feel the same way, he doesn't have the same type of connection with the unborn baby that a mother has so of course Edward would choose Bella's safety over the babies.
I Felt Stephanie did a great job portraying how a couple would truly feel when given news such as this.
Props to Bella for making a great choice!!!

  5. Julie says:

I understand both sides. I think Edward never got the chance to realize that the “monster killing Bella” was actually HIS child. He loves Bella above all things so he was only focused in the danger and the pain Bella was in. Bella is a selfless person so she didn’t think much of those aspects. She loved her little nudger from the beginning, for me that’s real love. But is not like she doesn’t care about her life, she’s worried but she knows she cannot MURDER the one she loves. So she tries, hoping no to die in the process.

  6. @JacalynSw says:

I have never been in the position of having an unwanted pregnancy. However, Having had 2 kids, I felt so much love for the babies right from the first month. It would be a heart break to abort the baby

  7. Sue Nurse says:

As a mother I'm sure that I could not make the choise between ending a pregnancy or my own life, the baby would come 1st. Especially with the love Bella has for Edward, she wants HIS child. Edward is so overly protective and espcially when the only one to blame is himself, he is just devistated by the very unexpected turn of events. I feel deeply for him but understand Bella

  8. Cookie says:

probably most mothers understand being willing to die for the child growing inside them, especially there adored husbands child & a child that they never though possible… Also doesn't Nessie "communicate" by touch even before she is born? From conception Bella would sense that she was dealing with another person and Bella is into self sacrifice in a big way
