‘Eclipse’ Filming Locations Being Kept a SecretComments Off

It is probably safe to say that no other film production in history has ever had the fan enthusiasm, curiosity, tenacity, and voracity as we Twilight fans. Right? However, it is also probably safe to say that while we do love our Twilight stars, probably none more than our own Robert Pattinson. Filming around fans can and sometimes is rather difficult for Summit Entertainment. For this reason, it is sometimes necessary for them to take steps like the ones mentioned in the report below in order to bring the fans the best Twilight Saga movie possible. But, we must admit that in the end, it is totally worth the effort.

Canada.com reports the following:

While crews were filming at a closed location south of Nanaimo for the past week, the unit publicist in Vancouver was unable on Monday to provide much more information than had already been dug up by curious and enthusiastic fans.

Eclipse did film visual effects shots near Nanaimo for two days last week,” said Toni Atterbury with CM Productions Canada.

Security around Twilight locations on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland has been exceptionally tight. Stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart are back in Vancouver making the third film in the trilogy, Eclipse, until the end of October, attracting unusually keen attention from fans.

The young stars are tracked by fans to their hotel and favourite restaurants and any bars and clubs where they might try to sneak a drink or see a band.

Fans travel from all over North America and as far away as New Zealand to track their vampire heroes with the hope of getting a picture or an autograph. In some cases they have flocked to filming locations by the hundreds, creating unprecedented security headaches for the producers.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Eclipse producers had asked newspaper websites and radio stations outlets in Vancouver not to disclose the filming locations, citing possible security and safety concerns for both the cast and crew, as well as the fans.

Eonline has an interesting interview with Justin Chon regarding the tighter security around Eclipse filming and the darker turn this movie is taking. He also talked about Robert Pattinson and the fact that despite all the attention he receives, he never gets angry and continues to handle things just great. Of course, did we expect anything less from our favorite young actor?

Get ready for darkness.

Twilight star Justin Chon tells me that director David Slade’s Eclipse isn’t exactly taking his lead from Catherine Hardwicke or Chris Weitz.

“He’s done pretty dark films, so that’s where I see [Eclipse] really gravitating toward—more of a dark kind of moody film,” Chon said yesterday at BAFTA’s pre-Emmy tea party. “Just shooting the scenes that I’m in, the mood is definitely different.”

How so? Read on for more…

“David is very set on how he wants this movie to be portrayed,” Chon said. “It’s a lot more refined and maybe not as loose as the last two—at least for us humans.” (Chon plays Bella’s classmate Eric.) “I can only imagine what he’s doing with everyone else.”

Chon also confirmed reports that Robert Pattinson has been living in a house rather than the usual hotel during filming in Vancouver, Canada.

“Security has been increased a lot,” Chon said. “They’re a lot more protective…If Rob was to go out in public without anybody, I think it could be pretty dangerous.”

Even so, Pattz is dealing with the attention well. “It takes him a lot more time to get in and out of places,” Chon said. “But he doesn’t get angry. He’s handling things great.”

According to Twitter reports from David Slade himself filming is going very well, and from other various set reports, the cast begins filming fight scenes some time next week. So much Twilight Saga news, so little time! In addition to the reports, we also have several set photos, courtesy of edwardandbella.net. It is a little hard to tell exactly what scene it is that they are filming, but, hey, it is Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, so we’ll just go with the fact that we have Bella and Edward and enjoy the view!
