We have copies of FAME the Robert Pattinson comic to give away thanks to the fabulous writer Kim Sherman who has this to say about PO:
When I was asked to pen the Robert Pattinson biography comic, the first thing that popped into my head was the experience of Pattinson Online. I have lots of references who can accurately vouch for Mr. Pattinson and his involvement in the Twilight Saga, and even some who’ve researched his past and future. But my friends at Pattinson Online have been dedicated towards following him since his Harry Potter days with great positivity and fantastic tidbits.
I was thrilled that they agreed to let me feature a screencap of their site in the book, which will serve as a nostalgic reminder as to the look of their all-inclusive site before its beautiful update.
Pattinson Online was a great resource used for compiling much of Mr. Pattinson’s biography, and I’m so thankful for their continued dedication to one of the finest actors around. I hope the book gives a good overall representation and serves as a great tribute to Mr. Pattinson. Thank you to all the fans who purchase the book to add to their Pattinson collection!
We love you, Kim!

We have been behind this project since the beginning and are very happy that its first print has sold out completely and it’s on to its second run! Our site intern, Brie, took a class in Sociology of Pop Culture this term and her final paper was written about Remember Me, the critics, and the fans. I was stunned at how much I was nodding along as I read it and thought it could apply to many other situations in which we use an “appeal to authority” to create our own opinions on things. I believe a few of our readers would enjoy it as well and so I’ve decided to post it. See an excerpt below and read the full paper after the jump. I would love to hear some reactions in the comments.
Through most of the movie you’re lulled into the life of Tyler Hawkins, a normal college student who seems more or less lost when it comes to his place in life. At first glance he’s not exactly the lead we’re normally introduced to within the first 10-15 minutes of a movie. There’s nothing about him that you could honestly say stands out from the crowd and this is where I believe the first controversy over the quality of this film starts. When we hear about amazing movies there’s always a hero, someone extraordinary. Someone we can aspire to no matter how unrealistic that may be. Think Brave heart, Star Wars, Rocky, Gladiator and every other film where our hero is the every man who happens to have some hidden talent or drive that makes them who they are; one of “us” who rises above society and becomes a hero on some level. This is what we are told we should want and it’s what we’ve come to expect. This concept so cherished by critics and the audiences who believe them is nowhere to be found in Remember Me. What you see is what you get quite literally. Tyler’s first line in the movie set’s the mood of the entire film and you know something is different, “Gandhi once said that whatever you do in life will be insignificant but it’s very important that you do it…I tend to agree with the first part.”
This isn’t a depiction of someone we should strive to be or someone who has overcome hardship to come out on top. This is Tyler, a regular person who has nearly been swallowed alive by the loss of his brother and the rejection of his father. He lives his life day to day almost drifting, living life as most of us do. Not learning any greater lessons or striving to be a better person; unsure of the future and with no exceptional goals in mind. It’s something that nags at you in the theatre. As I watched I kept waiting for his big moment. The “ah hah!” moment as I call it. The moment that everything changes for the Tyler character. It wasn’t until about 3/4ths of the way through Remember Me that it finally sunk in that this wasn’t a movie about the epitome of human kind. This wasn’t someone I should strive to be or worship heroically. This was a reflection of reality. This, for all intents and purposes, was me.
