Robert Pattinson’s “Little Ashes” in Australian Cinemas Early Next Year2

According to Tweed Daily News Kingscliff Cinemax will be one of three Australian cinemas to screen Robert Pattinson’s film Little Ashes in January 2010. Little Ashes has been released in 2008 in many countries around the world, but it seems that it never made it to Australia. Twihards can satisfy their craving for Robert Pattinson early next year when a Kingscliff cinema screens one of his rare, earlier films. Kingscliff Cinemax stands to be one of three Australian cinemas to screen Pattinson film Little Ashes in January.
Prior to his rise to fame in 2008 film Twilight as blood thirsty vampire Edward Cullen, Pattinson stared in Little Ashes, a film about the life of Salvador Dali.The film was released overseas in early 2008 but never made it to Australia. Cinemax owner and manager Stephen Buge said he expects the film to do well considering Pattinson’s popularity.
“I’ve just seen a bit of it, it’s a fantastic and beautiful film,” Mr Buge said.
“We always look to run films which are a little bit different and this is perfect.”
Mr Buge said several previews of the film had already run at the cinema.
“I think it will be one of the biggest films of January for us,” he said.
Mr Buge said there was no denying Pattinson’s following at the moment.
New Moon, the sequel to Twilight, made $16 million in its opening weekend in the Australian box office. It was also the third highest opening day Australian release with $5 million. Mr Buge hoped fans of Twilight would come see Little Ashes.
“Robert Pattinson is hot to trot now, he’s extremely popular through the Twilight films so hopefully his fans will enjoy some of his earlier work,” he said.
In Little Ashes, Pattinson stars as artist Salvador Dali.The film focuses on Madrid in 1922 when Dali studies at the Academy of Fine Arts with playwright Federico Garcia Lorca and filmmaker Luis Bunuel. Kojo Pictures film co-ordinator Tamara Clark said she hoped others cinemas will follow in Kingscliff’s footsteps and pick up the film.
“Pattinson is very good in this and all the fans are going crazy about it already,” Ms Clark said.
“They are very keen to see what he is like in other films.”
Joko Pictures is distributing the film throughout Australia and New Zealand.
