Summit confirmed today that Breaking Dawn will be two separate films. You can read the official press release below:
Los Angeles, CA, June 10, 2010 – Summit Entertainment confirmed today that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN will be released as two separate films with the first of the two slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011. Academy Award® winner Bill Condon will direct both films starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner along with Billy Burke as Charlie Swan as well as returning members of the Cullen Family including Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Ashley Greene as Alice and Kellan Lutz as Emmett.
The project, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg with Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer producing. The TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN will start production in the Fall.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.
The third film in the franchise, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is due in theaters on June 30, 2010.

Yes, I was sure there would be 2 movies. With a book the size of Breaking DAwn there was no other choice plus that alot more money in Summits pockets too.LOL I just hope that they do a good job with the honeymoon,the birth and the rest of the sex scenes in the book. It will have to have a higher rating than pg13. I am thinking for it to stay true to the book it will need to be at least a R-rating. What do you think??

I hope they make the first half blue lagoonesque but I’d rather a 2.5hour movie … I’m worried they’ll stuff up the second one I just don’t think there is enough to make 2 x1.5 hour movies please summit prove me wrong!
I am pleased Breaking Dawn will be in two parts. However, do we have to wait for over a year for the first release. I know little about film editing but I would not think it would take almost a year to edit and prepare for release. Maybe they should ask a few women who have to daily do hundred things and keep everyone moving to complete the tasks for that day. Any way, I can not wait and I too believe it will probably have to have an R rating. That is if they write the script according to the book! It does not look like they followed the book so much in Eclipse. Just saying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Darlene I agree.There is no way that Bella would of left Edward standing at the school while she took off with Jacob.That one really threw me for a loop.I guess they do what they have to drawing in more for the BOYS as they said in advertisments.I Have waited it seems like forever for this one.It and Breaking Dawn are my favorites I have read both of these books about 6 times a oiece just in the last couple of months to be ready for Eclipse.We will just keep fingers crossed.Maybe we should get something going to petition for out opinions..LOL
Really can't wait to see how this will be split into two movies. Just hope that they are not a year apart from one another otherwise will really lose the build up! Eclipse and Breaking Dawn really build the story to a crescendo, just don't keep us on a string for too long guys !!!
