In celebration of their 20th anniversary, IMDb has highlighted the last 20 years in film. Their review of the year 2008 features Twilight.

Based on a bestselling series of young-adult books about a girl and her vampire boyfriend, Twilight opens to a frenzied following, makes a destination out of Forks, WA, and turns two young unknowns, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, into megastars.

Extra recently named their top 10 favorite vampire movies of all time, with Twilight coming in at #8.

“Twilight’s” Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) pretty much single-handedly changed the way all teenager girls feel about vampires. Ahhhhh!

Rolling Stone recently named their top 10 and bottom 5 vampires of film and television. They reviewed the actors’ performances as vampires-not the strength of the vampire characters. Rob barely made the top 10, coming in at number 10 behind Kiefer Sutherland, Nicholas Cage, Alexander Skarsgard, and Ian Somerhalder, among others. Here’s what they had to say about Rob:

Admirers of both sexes might name the Brit actor Number One for his humongous fan base. But as Edward Cullen, he has neither the fangs nor the balls to go for the human jugular when he can hunt Bambi or moon around Bella instead. What Pattinson does have: Byronic good looks that are unfakably hypnotic.

The number one worst vampire according to Rolling Stone was none other than Rob’s on-screen dad, Peter Facinelli.

In a recent interview with Fredricksburg.com, Peter Facinelli discussed the effects of sudden fame on his life, and how he feels bad for Rob.

It’s hard to imagine now, but the crowds weren’t always there. While filming the first movie in Oregon, Facinelli said he and fellow actors Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson could grab dinner in local restaurants and no one batted an eye…

Of course nowadays, admirers have no problem picking the L.A. resident out of a crowd. He’s happy to sign autographs and pose for photos, though he’d rather not pretend he’s biting someone. For the most part, he said, fans are friendly and supportive.

“They’re very polite about it,” he said. “I feel bad for Rob Pattinson. He can’t walk anywhere. I can still walk through a mall and people recognize me, but it isn’t like the whole mall is staring at me.”

Robert Pattinson: “Sometimes my reaction is panic”

10.07.2010 18:37 from Mariam Schaghaghi (Die Presse)

There isn’t a single actor of the current time so idolized as he: “Twilight”-Vampire Robert Pattinson. On Thursday the new film starts, right ahead of its release he speaks about fame, elephants, and the “first time”.

Rob, you could be crowned the most famous actor in the world right now. How do you deal with this strangeness?
There are good and bad days. I often wish I wouldn’t react in such panic. But I believe I can separate jobs from private life very well. So far my ego still hasn’t been injured!
Currently, it is surely not simple to be Robert Pattinson. Can you believe what all has happened in the past two years?
Honestly, I have always said that it’s a subjective glimpse of the whole. For me everything feels the same as before, but there are a few aspects of my life that are completely different. I would just like to not admit that it has taken over my entire life. For myself, in my head, it’s the same as it was in the old days; I also have the exact same friends.
You are 24 and, as it is, can’t be anywhere without bodyguards at the door. Doesn’t it stink to you that you can’t lead a normal life?
Sometimes. But then I remember how my normal life was: boring.
Where do you live now, in London or in L.A.? Do you perhaps have a home?
No, I don’t. My “apartment” consists of three suitcases, out of which I live. Inside of them is everything that I need.
Isn’t that a very lonely life?
I work constantly, so I am always surrounded by people who ask me questions or give me instructions. That’s why I enjoy it if I can do something for myself. I don’t have any problems with having a two-month long period with no one to speak to.

The UK’s Guardian recently did a piece on the top film and television vampires and the people who played them. Rob not only made the cut, but is also apparently the most successful screen vampire of all time. Check it out:

Hard to credit, perhaps, but Stephenie Meyer’s blockbusting gothic romances have made R-Patz the most successful screen vampire of all time, outselling previous title holders Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in the Anne Rice adaptation Interview With the Vampire. Hardened horror aficionados may balk, but hordes of Twi-hard fans have swooned to Edward Cullen’s otherworldly charms, marvelling at the way his skin glitters in the sunlight, and dreaming of dying (and being reborn) in his sensitively pallid arms. Chastity never seemed so attractive.
