Book Club: Breaking Dawn Ch 1-314

Since Eclipse ended in a happy note i thought it would be the same. That's why when I read the preface I said " ooh nooo. Bella is going to get hurt yet again." The only question that I had was "By who?". I have to admit that it got my attention.
I agree - I definitely didn't foresee a happy ending after reading the preface!
About the preference: I had no idea what would happen when I read the book the first time, so I think I didn't think too much about it and wanted to see where the jouney would take me.
I've read the book so many times. I can't imagine the wedding beeing any other way. And I am happy for Bella to be able to enjoy it in the end. And I love that a least some the Quileute came. I bet it means the world to Bella.
But I also love the scene where they tell Charly. I have to giggle every time I read it same with when Jaz and Em come to pick up Edward. And the whole talk at night before the big day is so sweet. I'd love to be in her place.
Bella telling Charlie is one of my favorite scenes. :)
When I first read the preface, I didn't know anything. I didn't realize she would be having a baby, and I didn't realize she would become a vampire, so I just thought it was similar to the preface in Twilight…that someone she loved would be hurting her and she would be willing to die in her place. Now that I have read the book several times, the preface always bothers me. I cannot relate to a woman who would die for an unborn thing that is killing her from the inside out.
I love the wedding. It all sounded so beautiful, except really Jake did ruin the wedding by freaking out like he did. The first time I read it, I totally understood Jake's feelings, but I also thought he should not have gone to the wedding at all. But the rest of it was beautiful.
One of my favorite Edward Bella moments ever takes place in Chapter two when they are lying in her bed before the bachelor party. To me it's one of the most romantic scenes they share in the book.
I agree with your comment of the scene in Chapter 2 with Bella and Edward…Hope that scene is in the movie too!
I Loved every part of the first few chapters…. the convo in the bed the night before the wedding was sweet, awesome , and loving. i have read all of the books so many times Twilight is my favorite movie so far and as crazy as this my sound Breaking Dawn is my favorite book it brings everything to a head and bring everyone together. Cant wait to talk more about the book as we go alone dont want to tell to much if everyone has not read the book in full yet.
The wedding was beautiful in the book I hope the movie is really true to the books version of the wedding.
Re: the preface I thought the same thing that I think most people thought, which was, “Oh no, this isn’t going to have a happy ending” but I agree with Christine when she said that it was similar to Twilight.
Re: the wedding, I thought it was wonderful. It all seemed so sweet and dreamlike. I am glad that Jake showed up to support Bella on her “big day” but was at first disappointed on how he reacted when she told him of their honeymoon plans. Because seriously he had to expect that to some degree…..but after reading it so many times, I understand that maybe he did kind of expect it, but was just taken off guard when she made it official by actually saying it. But.I’m sure it took alot for him to actually up in the first place. He honestly does have a love for her. But I think Edward handled the whole situation farely well. How I envy Bella and the way he looks at her. I would love for him/someone to look at me that way.
But I also agree that the part before the bachelor party was indeed the best part by far. It starts to show how the relationship is really just flowing along now….Plus, the part when they tell Charlie is something that cracks me up because it just seems so realistic. Cuz thats something we’ll all have to go through someday. Lol I loved it!….but I also felt for Edward when he said about how when they told Charlie.about the engagement and he wished it was true about his assumption of the pregnancy because it shows although he’s happy to have her, he would still want a family. I think its something that not only.Rosalie struggles with, but them all. Because I’m sure they would all want to have their own children witb their soul mates.
Preface: the first time I read this I thought the same thing from the first book, someone who is close to her is going to hurt her. Again re reading, it makes so much sense. to have that kind of love is unconditional, and not many people can have that or even find it. You're willing to give your life to help another. These days, again you wont find that, because everyone is so selfish in getting what they deserve or what they want. I feel like it captures Bella completely. dedication and passion.
The wedding of course was beautiful in my head, I just hope the movie creates the same thing.
The books in general portray Edward “old- fashion” realities. Being intimate wasn’t just a romantic choice in that world. When he was still human sex naturally led to pregnancy because birth control was pretty primitive in 1918 When Edward was” that boy” issues of life and death were still involved when you went to bed with someone. People married with the expectation that they would create a family together and any girl had to think about the chance of risking her life in child birth (not just with vampire babies). Also, Edward had been living for 70+ years with two family members who have major motherhood issues so he know infertility can hurt some women deeply. Bella’s attitude about kids is still pretty unformed, shallow and juvenile as she marries.
Every one in the cast that has commented on the wedding scene- both male and female, says that it was so well done, so real, that they were all overwhelmed by it- so I think that it will be up to all our expectation. Even Rob- when asked about the dress spoke softly about the sweetness of how she looked. Can't WAIT!!
